OK body shop seen my cabby today and they said it would be criminal not to do a full respray once they do my arches ect. Now I will prolyl los emy car for about 3 weeks in total.

Do you think it's a job I should do asap or leave till the end of the summer ( after Santa pod ) and then get it all done and then wrap up in cotton wool for the winter?

Do it next spring. No point before winter since the grit and salt on the roads will just start eating the metal again and nothing worse than loosing a cabby for almost a month over summer.

I agree with March, that's if it really needs a full respray. It didn't look like it needed a full respray. Can't you do just where the arches need doing.

Don't do it now you fool- the sun might come out!! After winter when the salt and crap has finished being thrown everywhere. Springtime would be good. The bodyshop could be exagerating also!! :)

the bodyshop are not business but friends of my old mans so they are doing at cost and a few beers. They are actually a body shop for a bus firm that do buses for schools. Because they will fit it around their work for me will take longer.

The reason why they said full respray is the colour matching , if any of you see my cab up close it's been resprayed on most parts by the previous idiot owner in alpine white 2 , while the A pilla and engine bay are still in Alpine white 1. Because the kit needs to be resprayed also thank's to some sratches and the work needing on the arches they said it is worth it. Remember ALOT less to spray on my cab than a standard saloon.

The car is valleted weekly as it is and I feel it needs the work doign before the winter to prevent it getting any worse, normally I would wait but I am planning on an M3 or Alpina for next year to go with my cab.

id always advise against friends and favour jobs. if anything goes wrong you have no come back. ive learned the hard way in the past and ended up falling out with people over it.
now i always take it to an independent place , pay the full price and have full guarantee if the sh1t hits the fan.

I have the problem of living in the car hating capital of the world and I am not too trusting of grages. Also I don't think there is a good bodyshop around Oxford

full re-spray? I'd say it wouldnt need it, just 3/4 painting entirely unless the bodyshop is unsure on the paint match they can get if this is the case find somewhere else to do it

I'd wait until the so-called English summer has gone. It won't be too long now. A couple of months won't make much difference for you to wait. Why waste not having a soft top for a couple of months.

Thanks for the advise . I think it will be a job for 09 now. I'll get all the other bits done between now and then (ie someone's smoked lights to buy  )
