Well my car finally made it without any problems :) ive got no tyres or brake pads left but.... damn i was well worth it.

Day -3
Started the day by heading to spadges in the evening for an emergancy diff replacement (cheers mate) lovely touring car sound coming from the back of the car.....

Day-1
So the Emergancy replacement started.... few hours later it was all mounted at good to go... no time to run this one in.....

Image

Day 1 got the boat at around 8am with speedferries got a nice pic off the back of the boat, diff all working fine thank god, headed to familys had a few days of relaxation before the ring having a bit of fun with the cousins e30 aswell.

And finally.... LEROYYYYYYYY.... Merlin?

Day 4...ish.... Set off at about midnight headed for the Ring nice clear roads all the way... discovered belgian speed cameras are extremely sneeky, just look a bit like cctv cams on the side of the road but were enough to alert the tom tom i suppose... so dont know if they are or arnt but hey! arrive around must of been about 5am so just drove around the village a while looking at the castle and the BMW center nearby. at 8am the track opened and straight on i went, overall managed to do a just under a 10 min lap so fairly happy considering am only driving a little 320i , lots of different cars throughout the day few crashes aswell, guy came off his bike heard someone saying he had broken his leg or something but the track didnt get closed so i dont think they did, headed back after about 1 as i had no brakes left or tyres. Overall great day and well worth the money!

Arriving

here's some pics of my recent trip. i'm now hooked and will be back before the year is out!
http://www.e30zone.net/modules.php?name ... c&t=105977

we spent more time at the ring than you (a few days), staying in the B&B (Pension Zimmer) just up from the BMW test centre. nice place and cheap too! :D

oh, like you, i wasn't really ready in advance of leaving and was still bleeding my brakes at 2am the night/morning before the 8am ferry! 2 hours sleep followed by a drive to the ring in one day  :D

damn you! lol wish i got that good mpg! then again mine spits petrol out the back sometimes.... looks good but time for a re tune me thinks..... or sensor... one of the two. btw gareth did you take a spare set of tyres n pads? might have a mate comming in another car so gonna fill the thing with a few tyres n pads if he can. Im now talking to a few people one of which is part of a scooby club so he could possibly get a few of them to go aswell, could make it a massive weekend, would certainly be fun if this all works out.

i wish i did take pads, the mintex M1144's on mine got burned to shite!!! they were totally shot after half a lap, cooled a bit after the climb out of adenau though but not confidence inspiring 8O
better brakes for next time i reckon :D

no idea what mine were but they lasted decently when i take them off il let you know what they were, came with the car brand new and didn't fade TO badly..... however they did once fail me coming into bergwerk a little to fast which almost sent me into the wall but just kept it out the grass ><.... must admit when your brakes start to go though you do start to get a little worried don't ya?

half of my laps were worried! i had problems stopping at the end of the last one which is when i decided to call it a day! to be fair, my car was heavy (lpg tank etc, M30 boat anchor, touring heavy arse end, 2 up and with all of my tools and jack etc in the boot!) and the M30 is a bit brutal up the straights so you're scubbing a lot off.

EBC red's on order all round

I'm defo up this whenever a date is confirmed, gives enough time to sort out the brakes by the looks of it, Gareth are you running upgraded brakes or the std. 325 ones?

at the moment, i've got standard size stuff on. rears are standard discs with EBC greens, front ate ATE powerdisks (the wavy groove jobbies) with mintex M1144's. neither end was up to the job in my case.

I will be returning with fresh discs and EBC reds all round as benchmark test for further WMS development winkeye

They do all sorts, from standard stuff up to big 4 pot kits. Keri is my bro and having a heavy and powerful E30 means i'm the E30 test pilot! :D

PM him (Keri-WMS), prices for most stuff are very good.

The stuff on my car round the ring was standard size but uprated (on the car when i bought it) it'll be compared next time to a known very good pad all round (EBC red) on fresh standard spec discs, as a benchmark really. the 280mm 4 pot kit was developed on my car but has never been round the ring on mine as it's now on Theo's 335i :D

Cheers for that Gareth, will give him a PM in a couple weeks, need to wait for my bank account to recover from building the E30 in the 1st place! Cheers for the help, thinking of going with EBC Reds and maybe some grooved discs, hopefully that will be enough without having to fork out for a 4pot conversion :?
