This may not technically the best place to post this so mods please move if needed!

Let me explain my predicament.

Currently swapping in an m44 engine into my 316i, have all necessary upgrades complete i.e front struts rear discs etc etc, and have had it in for a dry run, all seems ok.

Now, the guy I got the engine off has had a 328i e36 engine come in, and is offering to do that instead - I want to but unsure on insurance.

What have people been quoted on this conversion, is there anywhere anyone can recommend as time is short and I dont want to ring round hundreds of companies!

Problems? - 25yr old - 0 ncb at the moment - no points on licence.

Cheers guys!

I was 25 when I first insured my M50 conversion, had just finished a 2 year dangerous driving ban, may have had some points left but cant remember, 0 ncb, cost me £2080 with Adrian Flux, the year after with 1 years ncb cost me £950 with Performance Direct, AF wanted £1200 or thereabouts

just ring the brokers who advertise in the mags, like Flux etc.

Forget any price comparison sites

Performance direct for my M50/52 Conversion :D

Fully comp agreed valueation at 5k, all done with photographs, excellent service.

Won't tell you the price as it'll make you cry, but there is an advantage to being old !!!

Take it it's less than 2k then! :D

Looks like performance direct might be a good bet - I'll give them a buzz tomorrow then, and flux also.

If anyone else has got a good deal let me know!

Cheers again!

My '88 325i fitted with MCoupé running gear and an S50B32, valued at £7k fully comp was quoted as £600 with adrian flux. I was 26 at the time of getting the quote, had 4 years no claims and working as an engineer/draftsman. I'm older now (1 year) and have more no claims but it'll probably be abit more what with the cost of living etc...

Most of these places just take the insurance group of the car you got the engine from as far as I can see, then charge you ectra for things like agreed value.
