Hi,

Can anyone recommend some budget springs for road use? Looking for a 40mm drop.

Thanks.

I can recommend AVO springs. Quoted as 20mm drop, but It it's it's more like 40mm at the front. About £90. To me, they feel much nicer than the H&R 60/40 that were on there before.

H&R 60mm on the left. AVR 20mm on the right! The AVO's are a bit stiffer, so the car naturally sits a bit higher.

FlappySocks...what springs did you get? Was it the AVO 20mm drop? I would need something lower. The end result of yours is how mine is sitting.

I want a low rider BUT not so low I can't get over bumps.

I bought a 40mm KW kit for my Tech II Sport which is the ideal drop I think.

Thanks for the link E30Beemer Lad :thumb:

It is the 20mm, however, as I said above it's much lower at the front. The back doesn't look so low. I have put an uprated rear roll bar on the back, and overall the ride has been transformed. Virtually no body roll at all.

Only problem I have with that height is that it's going to be too high as it'll be sitting on 16' Alpina's.

I might try the 40mm drop either with Avo or the company that E30BeemerLad knows of.

if you want a budget set up try the 'GT Cupline' kits on german ebay, I bought a spring/shocks kit for £115 ish as it was in Euros

the only bad side is the delay for shipping

all this £100 lark for tat when H&R 35mm ones are £110 posted from euro performance.

But i wouldn't fit saloon springs to fat arse cab. And proper cab springs are more like £200

Can anyone give me any advice when buying springs for a cab?

I thought it wouldn't matter as long as the springs are for a 6 cylinder?

What's the difference between 325i springs & cab springs?

Just need to know whether they're compatible and if it'll give me the results I want?

Many thanks.

The cab is much heavier at the back, generally people regard cab and touring springs as interchangeable, of course some manufacturers might have different part numbers so do still check.
If you use saloon springs on a cab they'll be too soft - or at least softer than they were intended to be.

Thanks for the info Morat...that's cleared things up for me.

I won't be getting saloon springs for sure.

Will 2 door saloon springs be about right for the cab? Anyone? And if so should I get 40mm or 60mm springs?

Looking for 40mm all round :?

err, no. Saloon springs are the worst option.
Get cab/touring springs.

Does anyone know where I can get cab springs that will give me a 40mm drop?

I don't think Avo offer 40's only 20's.

Spax do 40mm springs for Cabs & Tourings, they are quite firm, so would advise going out in a car first with them fitted. I personally like them and have always used them on different cars i've had without any problems. Others will say different !

Spax springs aren't bad at all. With any performance application you need to ask what the spring rates are - no point in fitting lowering springs that are softer than the originals.

The car in my sig pic has the eibach pro kit fitted. I bought it from the zone shop. Firm but still supple enough for the country roads round here. It isn't dramatically low, but it does take away the 4x4 effect you get as standard.
