I'll let Cabrio do the talking but due to a BMW GB cock up, this ain't happening. A pain in the arse when so much effort went into it.

Well I posted my thoughts up. What's p1ssing me off is that we are 3 days to go. Plus, through the club only 12 cars confirmed? We know via the zone the support e30's have yet 12 cars!!!! Says it all really. We get more on an average Guildford night.
I have fully supported the club both physically and verbally (on here), I now give up! The forum is dead due to them allianating others. I posted a 5 series issue up on the 25th May, have had NAFF all response and its not the 1st time. Speaking to James Sohl the old coupe registrar, he had horrific problems trying to drum up support and gather enough cars for a meeting. It appears few people now have time for the BMW CC and the support and represetation of members support this.

I fear that I have now paid my final 45 quid and that this year will be my last Gaydon.

I don't know about that. Our region is very active but it seems a bit dead down South. The Bracknell thing is due to the historic cars going to Goodwood that weekend and Neil rightly thought that there just wasn't enough to see with them gone.

The forum issue is true enough.

Sorry Andy but has Goodwood only just been announced? Have they changed the date of Goodwood? We've known that it's the same weekend for ages. I'm just disallusioned with the whole nine yards. Neil did have the balls to ring me though after my postings so I'll give him that.

Yes I know it's difficult arranging these things and I'll be the first to shake his hand as a thank you for the hard graft. But 12 f*cking cars out the entire club? Come on, get real. It's a p1ss poor showing by anyones standards.

I used to be in all support of the BMWCCGB, but things like this happened, all the actual meets were highly supported by the E30zone alone and I got dissed on the forum for something totally unbelievable. That's why I was in support of being one of the first people to start up this E30zone. It's great, not too many heavy handed moderators, albeit a couple at times, but other than that it is the best forum and website around. Sorry to hear about this as well as to read about the accident with your car and the wheels!! Hope car is all okay now.

Looking forward to seeing over 40 or so cars at the Bimmerflex on the 13th!!

What i don,t understand is why the reasons for cancelling/postponing the meet, can,t be discussed on the forum.
Thought that was the whole point of a forum.

Very late to cancel a meet! 8O

Personally I'd rather have a small meet and continue with the chosen date, rather than p*ss off a load of people and have an even smaller meet later in the year.

Someone has dropped the ball in a big way over there imo. :(

... and I know its no-where near the same league of disappointment.. but a few of us were off to a Zone meet a couple of Fridays ago, really looking forward to it, clean underpants and everything - just about to step out the door and your organiser pulled the plug on account of not enough people wanting to go.

Its a forum thing - back in the days of monthly newsletters you could not cancel at the eleventh hour, you were committed and had to see it through.

K - well i dunno - I have met Neil ( cabrio) only once but I rate him as one of the good guys

My often and vehemently stated public opinion about the BMWCC not only stands but is again reinforced

Bunch of childish arseholes who couldnt organise a pissup in a brewery- and Andy Im NOT having a go at the Regional guys who do a good job

As for the BMW CC - it's made up by regions. Without regional organisers, a club is a waste of time. In my opinion the BMWCC is excellent AS LONG AS YOU GET INVOLVED! The other thing is apathy from club members who are prepared to read the magazine and moan like f*ck but won't get stuck in and organise anything or attend meets/shows. They all say "Oh I'll go to that meeting", but don't. Look at all the people who were 'definitely going' to Billing but didn't. Look at the list of those who were 'definitely going' to Bracknell but, with three days to go, haven't confirmed.

Malcolm (Tylerma) will tell you what it's like to organise a meet and 3 men and a dog turn up. Seems to me you're all prepared to do the Brands Hatch thing that Neil organised and them shoot him down for this. Such a thankless task. :-x

Not all of us say that we are going to do something and not end up doing it. Although, I do know that a lot of people are to hasty in putting their names down, before they check with their better other halves what they are doing and then have to pull out at the last minute, or don't even tell anyone that they are not going to attend. I've been to plenty of meets where there were supposed to be at least 20 or so cars to turn up and only 4 or 5 have arrived!!

As for get involved, I was told that I was just a member and not an organiser!! if I remember correctly, albeit this was nearly 6 or 7 years ago. I don't forget things easily  The BMWCC is hardly excellent in my books and I'm sure that I don't speak for myself. Maybe I am only a few that have the backbone to be heard, and thanks for the pm too little weasily boy!!. It might have changed for the better now, but at the time it was full of old farts that weren't interested in any car that had to have an MOT!! They were certainly not interested in E30's or E32's hence why my dad and myself withdraw our membership the following year.

If there were anything to make the South/London region better, I wouldn't have minded helping, but I'm sure not going to drive all the way from West London to Kent for a weekly evening meet. After all, I put in the hours when it came to the E30zone.

Organising meets is a thankless task, but you don't do it for thanks, you do it so that you meet other people with similar likes to your own. Take for instance the Rockingham meet. BMWCCGB were begging E30Zone members to pay up in front, because they were afraid they were not going to make up for the money they put down as a deposit. If it had been left to the attendance of their own members, they would surely have lost it, as there weren't that many of their members that turned up, all but a few of their regulars.

I will probably be shot down for this, but at least I take the time out to tell the truth and not just let other people moan just for the sake of it.

All I can say Liz is that you 'aint been to any of our northern events - not that I can pass comment as I have never been to any southern ones!

Don't say the 'Club' don't support the E30 - Ours is perhaps the most active area at the moment and we nearly all have one (E30 that is)

If you were to come up to Harewood on Sunday you would see that we have only two dedicated areas for certain models... up near the arena in pole position are the 02's and the E30's - everyone else will be parked together en-masse.

Most of my members have cars of MOT able age - and a good few of them get their tax discs for free.

Didn't know about this either. Which meet was it?

As for turnouts, there was - from memory 42 cars on the Monsport thread, of which 19 turned up on the day.

It is difficult to organise events. Brands Hatch was indeed a good day out, but I think most of the disappointment is in not even being given a reason for the cancellation.

It's not good when you have to say something is cancelled, and give a good reason, it's worse in my opinion if you just say 'tough sh!t guys...'

There's always Bimmerflex as well as Goodwood this weekend, so don't worry guys and girls, you shouldn't feel your hard preparation work is for nothing.

I have not sent you a PM. Why would I? I would respond to the insult, but I can't be bothered.

The 19/42 Monsport bullshit/attendance ratio speaks volumes. That's 23 sad excuses!

It's a shame that the South are not any good. If they were, I'm sure I would turn up to them.

You sound like you have a good turnout and have fun. The London/South East region doesn't, which is a shame as you would like to think that a reputable car maker like BMW would have an excellent car club for the North as well as for the South.

However, I'll just stick with the old faithfull E30zone. It has plenty of meets and their forum is excellent. If BMWCCGB forum was any good, then you wouldn't need or be on the E30zone. LOL :winkeye:

Me and Beardymat cancelled it as only 3 men and a dog said they were going (andyboy moaned he had an early start next day) and we didn't feel like driving 100 miles to see fellow Sheffielders as no one else had said they were coming.

I remember the zones e30 day at Aces in 06 and non of the London crew turned up ...it was mainly supported by us provincials...These days it costs a lot to drive the 150 miles to venues in the south and if only a few turn up ....

I went to the Brands Day and it was well organised and enjoyed by all ...so if Neil decided to cancel it he must have a reason ..we would all moan if we went and it wasn't worth the effort.
