Pretty sure only the 518i is a 4 cylinder in E28 form. 520i, 525i, 525e, 528i, 535i and M5 are all sixes.Jhonno wrote:i think some at least were 4 pots..
The E12 520's were four pots.

Just google it. An E12 looks remarkably like an E28. The kidney grille is the biggest give away (its merges in the middle unlike the E28 and E30's).secondtimelucky wrote:Great info so far, anyone got a pic of an e12 so i know im definately talking bout the right car

IIRC early ones are 4 cylinder and have the M10 engine and later ones have a 6 cylinder (M60?).secondtimelucky wrote:Ok so its an e12 520 iv been following round lol not e28. Which engine would this have? And how much are they worth in good condition?
The only E12 worth any serious money is a mint M535i. The rest are worthless landfill I'm afraid!

Worth very little tbh, e28 is really a better car especially small engined ones, but some of us think the e12 is a charming wee thing. A bloke tried to sell a good 528 on ebay the other week, wanted about 2k (they're worth a lot more in Germany and America and places) only went up to £350! They're a pretty unusual sight on the roads though. I think some of the later e12s had the 6 pot 2 litre engine but I could be wrong afaik they're all carbs except the 528i and m535i which isn't great. I'm restoring an e12 m535i at the moment so if you go to look at it I can tell you some of the rust spots.secondtimelucky wrote:Ok so its an e12 520 iv been following round lol not e28. Its a shame tbh, the E12 is for me one of the coolest Beemers ever made and I would rate it nearly as the same as an E30 when it comes to BMW quality of design. In Europe or in Germany you can get good cash for an E12 528i to an example but frankly speaking, I love them all...darkchild wrote:IIRC early ones are 4 cylinder and have the M10 engine and later ones have a 6 cylinder (M60?).secondtimelucky wrote:Ok so its an e12 520 iv been following round lol not e28.
