Just passed my mot but had some small problems which I was let off on as he trusts me to fix them. (I really needed it for tax!) Everything else was fine.

My reverse lights dont come on when I put it into reverse, even though I changed the bulbs . My left front indicator doesnt come on unless I bang it! Even then it flashes fast just like the left rear indicator.

My fog lights also dont come on unless I bang them!

Any ideas why this is happening?

sounds like dirty connections, trace back the loom from the faulty lights cleanin all connections that u come across, as 4 the reverse light lift ur gear gator up and check the connection on that

the reversing lights are not mandatory for teh MOT, but its probably teh swtitch on the gearbox thats playing up.

problems with the indicators could be down to the flasher unit for the Hazards

Is the switch on the gearbox located under the gear gaitor? Is there anything specific I should look for on that?

Thanks guys

The reverse light switch is high up on the right hand side of the gearbox. Easy enough to change once you've got the car so that you can get at it. There's a plug and socket under the gearlever gaiter that you can short together the pins of, to confirm it is the switch.
Front indicators get a bit of moisture in them, which corrodes the bulb. Either remove and clean up the bulb or replace it.
Fog lights are likely to be corrosion in their connecting plugs.
If the right hand indicators flash at the correct speed, and the left hand ones are fast, then you've still got a poor connection somewhere with the left indicators.
