I was just in my local dealer in York about 30 mins ago to pick up some back plates I ordered yesterday afternoon. The geezer was helpful and gave me a little discount and when I said I would probably be back for other bits & bobs he said no probs with doing discount/ trade prices.
I even turned up there in the soarer and wasn't asked to leave
But in relation to the earlier posts about being asked to leave because of a mention of E30zone or indeed anything else really does demand a letter to the dealer principal and BMW GB as that type of attitude is unnecessary

i remember phoning my local stealer up one saturday, a different bloke answered.. it was the time i had a coolant pipe split and needed a new pipe, he gave me a price without discount... i asked him where was my discount? mugging me off he said why do you get discount?? so i went into one.... do you realise how much fucking money i have spent at your dealership?? if it wasnt for me your e30 parts sales would be fucked! then i asked do you want me to elaborate anymore??... so i reeled off the parts for the engine build, the fucking exhaust system, suspension parts... he apologised and gave me my discount.. the next time i phoned them i told darren(geezer on the parts department) about this prick... he was a temp covering for the day.... the mug.
I just tell my local dealership that my old mans after another M3 and he's asked me to get some info while I am gettign parts. Normally I get a 1st class service for some reason when they think the old duffer gonna spend another £30k there

Calterdon in Inverness were good but my contact there has now retired/moved on
. Sopers do a good discount for me.
My friend has to deal with dear old Arnold C and discount is very limited with his dealers. So I now buy most of his bits through my dealer as I get anywhere between 15 - 25% depending on discount codes for the parts.

You were lucky he even bothered serving you. If you spoke like that to me in my shop you would be shown the door.e30bmlover wrote:i remember phoning my local stealer up one saturday, a different bloke answered.. it was the time i had a coolant pipe split and needed a new pipe, he gave me a price without discount... i asked him where was my discount? mugging me off he said why do you get discount?? so i went into one.... do you realise how much ******* money i have spent at your dealership?? if it wasnt for me your e30 parts sales would be ******! then i asked do you want me to elaborate anymore??... so i reeled off the parts for the engine build, the ******* exhaust system, suspension parts... he apologised and gave me my discount.. the next time i phoned them i told darren(geezer on the parts department) about this prick... he was a temp covering for the day.... the mug.
Discount or no discount, Common courtesy says you don't swear and talk down to the sales man.
I sometimes get discount, sometimes I get std prices. But I never ask for it.

I used to ask for it when i first got my Sport but now i've been in and out of there quite often, most of the parts guys know me and just automaticaly give me some discount and it makes a big difference !
It does help when there seems to be a fair few of the staff that are intrested in older BMWs.
Only the other week there was a silver 1972 CSL+840+e9(?) parked up ! (may have been customers cars but i was surprised to find these in a thrusting main dealers !)

i didnt like the blokes ''couldnt give a fuck'' attitude, he was a proper jobs worth + he had it coming with his attitude.d6dph wrote:You were lucky he even bothered serving you. Many people still take their old BMW's to the dealers. I try to go to the dealer for MOT's myself.
BMW parts desks are very good and they are a part of the reason that owning an older BMW is a pleasure to do. I have a parts account with the local dealership and get good prices. There is no reason that anyone who owns a number of BMW's or is doing a restoration can't do the same.
Paul King, who is Zimmerbimmer1, runs the Genuine BMW parts department here and is doing a great job. He continues to do fantastic 'all in' prices for Zoners from his Cotswold BMW dealership.
