Im new here, but im a big e30 fan, got two, my daily runner is a 318 and then theres my toy, she started life out as a 1990 316 but im in the process of stripping her and shes almost ready for paint. Im seriously considering trying to get a 3.9 v8 range rover engine to fit on a rover gearbox, would like to know if anyone else has done this or am i wasting my time. Any info or even pics would be much appreciated.

Pritty sure its been done before but its not that common due to the amount of engines out there that are more reliable and less expensive to tune

You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity

Thats probaly true mate, however ive been a landrover technician for 12 years so i guess im thinking it will be alot easier for me. Im thinking 3.9 vogue engine out of a classic on a sherpa van box! Just thought you guys might be able to advise with things like the best rear diff (ive heard the z3/z4 diffs fit straight in, but would it stand the pain?) and also if anyone has done it, did they have to move the brake servo and im guessing the exhaust manifolds would be a problem on the steering box?????

Have a look at Dips' Touring, that's now got a TVR Rover V8 in it, pics from Aces Cafe meet in May in the Meet Photos section.
Currently slumming it in an E46 Touring

I know a little bit about the engines, and a lot about getting them into Capris, but nothing about fitting them into E30s...
