Sorry mods i know this has nothing to do with E30s (although it was my E30 i had insured with them) but i want people to know.....

I sold my car so i canceled my insurance with direct line. I have only been with them 5 months and i payed for the whole year already, when i canceled i asked how much i will be getting back as you do....the m*t*er f*u*k*rs said i wont be getting a penny back!!

I went mad over the phone when she said told me that saying they do not pay you back for left over months!!

Im going to call them again tomorrow and see what i can do becuase this is daylight robbery!!

Has anyone else had a problem with direct line? If so is there a way of getting your money back or is this part of the agreement?

They owe me about £400 so its not like its a few quid!!

Ermmm i dont no lol!!

Im at work so havnt checked, il look at it tonight when i get home.

But im sure it cant say they wont pay out, my old insurance (CIS) paid me all my money back to the penny, and Swinton also paid me my money back even though i was only insured with them for 2 days and then canceled it.

theres usually a sliding scale of a percentage amount of cash back after a certain time slowly decreasing as the months go by. its not always the case though and its likely the insurance company are sticking to the small print laid down in your policy. if thats the case youve got no chance as its down to you to check the small print.
isnt it possiblr to change the policy to cover your new vehicle rather than cancelling and losing out?
i sometimes get a £25 admin fee when i do this but many times they change it over free.

check your policy wording.

Fuzzy is indeed correct that rebates are usually done on a pro-rata basis and a sliding scale, so usually after you've done about 5 or 6 months you'll be lucky to see 30% back.

You haven't got any claims pending have you?

be careful getting too arsey with them tho, make sure they send you proof of any no-claims you've earned if any before you get angry with em :D

On the other hand, when we had to claim off them (not our fault) they were absolutely faultless and fought like mad.

They took nearly 3 months to pay out on my claim. Though the feckless morons ended up giving me compo, which was nice.

You should get a rebate, as mentioned on a pro-rata basis.

Phone up again, ask for it. If they still say no, make a complaint and be a stubborn, but pleasant mule.

3 months!! Damn, thats shocking. They paid out on my crash in three weeks, after I'd haggled with them too. Maybe us having a free hirecar was an incentive. Also, it wasn't my fault, so maybe the fast moving insurer in this case was the at fault party's one.
