Ok well ive got a complete lock set here and ive started to change them.
Thought i'd do the glove box first as its easy and now im on the boot lock.
I can see the 3 bolts holding it in, but how do you take it out?
Do you remove the black trim above it? and if so how as i cant see any screws etc.
Are the door locks easy to do?
Cheers Adam

right nearly got the door card off, but which way does the handle surround slide? (Backtowards the boot or forward towards the engine)
Got the 3 screws out etc, and wing mirror adjuster is out.
cheers Adam

Hopefully you haven't broken the bits off! I thought I knew from changing my doorcards not long ago.

if you move towards the front of the door were it joins the car and put your hand back into the opening behind you you should be able to grab the clip and pull towards you well thats how i did it and the ignition is the easiest to do turn old key to position 1 (you do have the key dont you) then push a small wirer i used a thick needle and then jiggle the key back and forth until the needle or wire slides all the way in whitch then allows you to remove barrel with the key on position 1 if you can understand my babble cool if not pm me and ill ring you to talk you through it

door lock clips are easy but you need a large beefy screwdriver

I thought the steering one could only be changed by drilling the sheer bolts out and fitting new ones ?

no the ignition barrel is easy to change, the actual steering lock part is the bugger it has sheer bolts you have to drill off,
turn key to ign 1 and insert 1mm allen key into the tiny hole then the lock should slide out.

Right thanks for the help so, done everything except the ignition.
Ive got the complete ingnition unit so set about taking the steering wheel off, then the indicator stalks etc, but hoe the hell does it come off?
Looking underneath it theres a black screw that goes into it, against the steering shaft, but no-way of undoing this screw?
Anyone got any ideas?

hi adam
good to see youve got the rest of the locks in
the screw in the ignition housing is the shearbolt type i told you about, when new it has a head on it which shears off when the bolt is tightened up,hence shearbolt! its used to stop theives simply unbolting the steering lock.i used a small sharp chisel to drift the bolt round when i removed the housing.i think though that you should keep trying the barrel though.the hole they speak of is the half moon shaped notch in the edge of the silver part of the lock where the key goes in.keep trying this cause the housing swap will need a new shearbolt and is more difficult than it looks

the sheerbolts are a pain to do, i`ve done it once and its not fun,
re the missing lock release hole, i did see a 325i once think it was an 89 model, it didn`t have a hole in the housing for the lock, so maybe some
were different?
not sure how you would remove the lock if thats the case

i just kep turning key from positon 1 slightly just a little jiggling slightly whilst pushing needle or small allen keyy in at the same time it does work just be patient as removing all is over the top as you will see when you get the barrel out

Woohoo, ive done it
I used i different needle and i did it on both ignition barrels nearly straight away
So a big thanks to everyones input, as without the trusty zone, it wouldnt of been able to do it myself.
