A mate of mine bought these engine mounts and they seem very stiff, has anyone else tried them out?

I ran solid ally mounts on my 325,worked fine, only a tiny bit of extra vibration, mostly on start up. Wouldnt fancy them on a four pot :D

Bought something very similar from U.S Ebay. Solid polyurethane, also came with the gearbox mounts.
Never got to use them, sold them to Ric 325i, who was going to use them in his M30 conversion.
Not sure if he ever did. HTH.

For what its worth, my BMW mountss failed at LLandow resulting in a smashed radiator and damaged gear linkage. I've now got the RS2000 jobs and have done the Ring and other tracks without any problems. Highly recommended!

I fitted the RS2000 ones to my old e30 race car when I built it (now Shorty73's car) and it's done nearly 4 full years of racing without fault! They are much stronger than the BMW ones but not as harsh on the engine mount arms as solid ones. It's not un-common for the alloy arms to break if you go the full hog and buy solid ones.

a plate to go under the mount tab and a "box" to reinforce the bracket
(plate hidden in that picture)

Uwe's kits are well worth the having, especially if you're using harder mounts and driving on track or doing hill climbs etc.

This is what the above looks like when mounted on the car.

I'd just like to say thanks to JimmyC for posting the link to those RS2000 mounts. I was looking for some mounts for my 316 E21 M42 engine conversion, and these looked ideal mounts... and they were! Dead cheap, £24 delivered for the two and they seem very solid.

(Subframe mounts aren't welded in yet, they will be tomorrow)

are the RS2000 mounts a lot stiffer?
i've got no real strength issues with my M20 ones but the weight of the M30 lump and the close proximity to the column are still causing me clearance problems on hard left handers. not a lot of fun on the ring!
