Hi , trying to get the vibration damper to tdc before I remove it to get the old timing belt off. The head is off the car and I need the old belt to get the cam pulley off the head. But when I turn the crankshaft 22mm bolt the resistance increases and it just bounces back to where it was before.
Any clues ??

or can the vib damper only be installed one way cos then it doesn't matter where it is ....
