door/ windows relay

my windows stopped working a while ago when you open the doors (no ignition) had a fiddle with it yesterday but still no joy. i seem to remember someone mentioning a relay on the old forum. who where why what which is it? it's not really urgent but would be nice to fix.

Relay's at the back left of the glovebox, but take out the doorswitches and check their contacts first. Fuse, for door open mode, is 28

my windows stopped working a while ago when you open the doors (no ignition) .

I had something similar a while ago, the windows would not go up or down until you opened the door then they would work. A BMW garage changed the relay but the problem returned, turns out that the fuse blew so they changed the fuse.

It happened once more a few months later so I just changed the fuse. It has not happened again, touch wood, but I carry a few spare fuses with me just in case

i had no fuse in 28. lol. i'd obviously stolen it for something more important and forgotten. oh well at least it was an easy fix
