dash lights not working

The dash lights dont seem to be working on my car I have checked the fuses and they all seem to be ok I was wondering if the was a common fault if so how can I sort it.

Try turning the light switch clockwise
Engine conversions, Auto to manual conversions, parts, servicing etc etc... For anything e30 call 07718 901737

Probably a fried rheostat on the switch. Test this by pulling out the lamp holder from the rear ashtray, turn on the lights, and earth the brown/white wire with the aid of a piece of wire.
Does this make all the dash light up? If yes, then you need a new light switch.

tried turning the switch and made no difference

Then go back to what Smithy said then.
If your switch is knackered i can do you a replacement for a fiver.

Just done what smithy said and it worked. Cheers for the offer on the switch spadge but already have a spare.

Yes all sorted now. Its probably due to the lack of use its had it whole life only had it a week and just want to get it all the little problems sorted.

i have the opposite problem, my dash lights are constantly on with the ignition, any ideas?
