1.6 engine not worth rebuilding after stripping it down......
Would like more power! So what are the implications of putting the 1.8is lump in. The ECU would probly need changing, but was thicking more on the side of gearboxes, engine mounts & exhaust manifold.
Any help would be appreciated...

Use the complete engine with mounts, loom, ecu, gearbox, prop and exhaust from the iS.
Easy transplant if you have all of the above.

Have you done the swap? How much did it cost you altogether?

Mounts will be different, but shouldn't be too much of a struggle, if you use the e36 ecu and loom, there should only be a few minor things to tackle as far as I know.

Also kinda depends what year the car is from, as some used the m42 engine and the later models the m44 (slightly more power, but internals not as solid - not really an issue unless you are going looking for mega power though)

You may need the ecu resetting once fitted, as apparently they sometimes "lock up" when removed

Exhaust wise you can get yourself a 318is system for an e30, it bolts straight on to the e36 m42 or m44 manifold as they are the same

I will have a thread in a couple of weeks hopefully once mine is done. (I'm going the m44 route).
