Guys,

I wouldn't mind some advice on this one.

I've got an opportunity to grab some rims for my 325i. Three possibilities have sort of presented themselves all at once.

1) Alpinas 16x7. No centre caps, probably need a refurb. et 28

2) Schnitzer type 1s, beautifully refurbed by the looks of them, 15x7, don't know the et (20? 25?)

3) MIM 1900s, definitely need refurbishment. 15x7, et 13.

They are all priced pretty similarly.

Thoughts? All opinions appreciated.

If you have the time / money to get the alpinas refurbed and find centercaps I would go that route.

If not I would go for the Schnitzers.

The Schnitzers look mint but the Alpinas are a damn fine looking rim for the E30. I reckon they look perfectly OK without the caps but I would like the caps ~ pigs to get hold of though. I know of a place that does stellar work with refurbing, it's just a matter of finding caps.

That being said, I downloaded the E30 AC Schnitzer catalogue and looked through it and I find the type 1s are growing on me quite a bit. They look pretty good indeed. They offered some beautiful finishes to their wheels.

Thanks for the feedback, oylegate

Great responses, guys! Thanks!

Weird. These rims are all as rare as hen's teeth in Australia so it's strange having them all come up at once. It's a funny old world.

Bear in mind decent tyres are going to set you back a bit more in the Alpina 8J size.

Also prices of the caps and locks from BMW are not cheap.

Lock Set £82.80
Badges £8.78 each
Cap £36.01 each
Lock Covers £4.23 each

Really hard choice.....NOT!! AC SCHNITZER all the way mate, alpinas are nice i must say (i have them on my car lol) but i would prefer to have ac schnitzer.

Either way its all down to taste mate, take a look at a few e30s with both wheels on them and see which you like.

Or as said above...buy all of them :D

Bit biased towards the schnitzers - but they'd look better in 16"!!!!

I do like the MIM's too though - just a bit different!!! Was lloking around for some for a while before i came across my schnitzers!!!!!

But 16" Alpina's look a lot different to 17". Much better looking as well.

that goes without saying mate, i made the mistake of buying some 171's(very cheap may i add) they were on the car for a couple of days, then i went back to the 14'' bbs.
