I know they're probably not to everyones tase and to be honest, i didnt think they were a bit of me either, but i had them all out n everything, so i thought, "why the hell not!!"

If i've got some pics on how i built them up i'll sling them on too

What do you think then?

Mate they look very good, better than the xhairs IMO and I for one will be copying1
Only real negative are the Angel eyes IMO but thats just a personal taste thing and not a dig
Can you get a pic of the mainbeam at night to see how restricted the light is?

very nice, they look at lot smoother than the crosshairs, I would copy aswell if I could be arsed,

@ eko looking at how bright the HID's are in daylight you probably wont see the high beams at night, even before the grills were added. :teehee:

I have ordered my HID's and waiting their arrival in the post, so I was going to smoke the lights at the same time. I was going to use the traditional method, curtesy of the crosshairs from eko(thanks mate), but now I am wondering whether this might be better.

The only grind I would have is if I can see the mesh from any more than about a meter away. Now totally unsure as which way to go

Also where might I get a heat gun from? Presuming hers indoors hairdryer won't be up to it! :D

I reckon the mesh would be `easier on the eye` than the X`s anyway, especially fine mesh like speaker grill stuff.
Get a heat gun from Argos, think I paid about £12 for mine.

I assume you want the heat gun to soften the glue for removing the lamp lenses, personally I baked mine in the oven. 150 centigrade, the main beams were in for five minutes and the lenses only took a little leavering with a screwdriver, the dipped beams which have plastic housing I done for around 10 minutes but took a bit of scoulding with a craft knife and leavering all around.

I got the idea from some videos on youtube. (thanks to the tiwanesse E34 owners club).

Very ghetto Mr G, but look really good in the flesh.

I personally prefer the crosshair versions but they do look good.

Thanks for all your opinions guys

With HID's in now, you dont even need the main beams, as they dont make the slightest bit of difference, and im using high power bulbs!! I was shocked how great these HIDs are!! However, the mesh has absolutely no impact on main beam intesity, and I will try and get a photo

The mesh cannot be seen until you get close to the headlight, sort of around 12" away

Im pleased with them for now, but im still a little unsure on the angel eyes... they may gro on me more. I like them more than the aftermarket ones, as these are actually from an E39 and took me a lot of fiddling to get the buggers in there!!

yes mate, literally jus popped it in and it rested on top of the little silver thingy that the bulb sits behind and against the angel eye refractor

if you dont have the angel eyes, you can use any size grille and just cut it to size
