I've just reached 89,000 miles so am not a contender, but am interested in who has the highest milage and how their car runs now.

yeah i have! which had a brand new cylinder head in 2003 from BMW. I had a slpit coolant pipe at the ring, it didn't overheat but it might of been enough. I don't know, but all i know is that i'm always fixing this touring. It's the worst E30 i've had for this
I can upgrade to a 91 E36 316i white 4 door if i'd like soon! i may do it for a while

. . .
Still pulls like a train but run a bit crap when cold and blows out a nice puff of blue smoke when I first give it some beans, stem seals maybe ? . . .

I reject your idea of reality and replace it with my own

Not sure on the exact mileage on my sport but I know Ive gone past 222,222, I know it has covered more than that as I ran around for a while (about 18 months
) with a broken diff wire. More likely to be nearer the 240k mark. It has started to be lumpy on start up and a loss of coolant, just another job to add to the list
About the least desirable E36 you can get!Simon13 wrote:I can upgrade to a 91 E36 316i white 4 door if i'd like soon! i may do it for a while

245,000 miles on my Touring, but changed the engine at 239,000 or there abouts due to list of issues, the old engine was still running but had massive 1 litre per day oil leak, coolant pressure (it was doing this for 3 years mind) and broken exhaust studs.
Currently residing under the bonnet is an E34 525i engine with 160,000 fitted by myself and SCOTT325SE

I meant to say,of my 245,000 miles just under 90,000 of them are "my" miles, and I still love the sound of the six firing up,and of course the occasional wail a little further up the rev band

253,000 odd, plus an unknown clocking early in its life, when sadly terminated by a flying porker last year.madaboutthe30 wrote:Werent one of Brianmoores somewhere up there at the top of the charts??
No oil consumption, no problems whatsoever, except for the mid throttle kangarooing on petrol, which I never did get around to sorting.
Condition of the engine is probably largely due to the last 100,000 miles being run on LPG.

does lpg prolong the life of your engine ???Brianmoooore wrote:253,000 odd, plus an unknown clocking early in its life, when sadly terminated by a flying porker last year.madaboutthe30 wrote:Werent one of Brianmoores somewhere up there at the top of the charts??
