I am considering a short shift conversion as a small weekend project. I am aware that the M shifter is shorter again than a standard Z3 type. I suppose I am after some 'real world driving' opinions. My car is not driven on a track, however, it is used for some weekend 'spirited' driving. Is the 'M' shifter overkill? or will the Z3 be enough of a significant improvement?
Thanks for any opinions...
Paul.

i love my Z3 M shifter...its short, and not too much hassle. easy to install too, just requires removal of the harmonic balancer....keeps the knob relatively high (compared to Z4) which i like

Taxidriver has fitted a 2.8 one which is excellent to use. Very short in knob height and shift travel.
