Hi,

I was wondering if BMW did tappet shim kits to cure the tappetyness of the S14 engine? I believe there is a devoted tool to allow this to be done?

What would be the price of a shim kit if it exists?

Also can you give me a price on a pair of genuine bmw front discs for the M3 (year 1988)

Thanks,
Oli

Hi

The s14 uses solid lifters not tappets, the tool is for removing the shims on top of the lifter. To adjust them you need to measure the clearance and order up specific shims in the right thickness.

Cool,

I'll be having a set of discs off you for sure next week. Any price on buying the lifter compressor tool or know where I can borrow one from as I believe they are about £40 to buy. I take it shims can be bought individually if I measure up and know which ones I need?

Cheers,
Oli
