you not seen a tech 2 rust then
i know of a tech to that had loads of rust hiding under kit and scuttle gone and that went for silly money in my opinion.

personaly i think the tec 1 is better tech 2 boot spoiler looks gay

But i have an early tech 2 sport and have seen many under the kits have u? have u owned one?, and it has some rust under the kit but nothing major.

Most tech 2's have some rust but no where near as much as tech 1.

Tell me this why are there so many tech 2's left compared to tech 1's then?

facelift on wards rust proofing was improved alot

not saying all tec 2 ae dogs

im saying ive seen some that have no arch under the kit basicaly

plus the kit on the 2 can hide a lot more
ive seen a few minters in both phases though

but its the same hing the tec 2 is newer so people will pay more for them
plus the electric windows in the early cas are shit and there a load withot power steering wich is a downer

av looked behind the kit on my h plate sport and its all pritty good bar the back pannel could really do with a new one to make it mint but if i change a pannel will that devalue my car, is it just better 2 get my existing one repaired?

your lucky then.

ive seen under a few and they do go bad, the kit seems imo to be more of a water trap than the tech 1 kit.
Most tech 2's have some rust but no where near as much as tech 1.
tech 2 is a later car tho remember so i. hasnt been exposed for as long and ii. has better rust proofing

thats easy - tech 2 had a much longer production run, and obviously are younger cars too
facelift on wards rust proofing was improved alot
yes ur right it was, but thats not the only reason theres more of them around

cant see how changing that will devaue the car as long as the work has been done professionaly. If its bodged then expect to lose money

wait untill your tech2 gets as old as my tech1 and you 'll be geting it redonne once, and it all be done ; once repaire its stays ok, and i have to ad , the engine in a 1 is the exct same as the engine in the 2 ....

they both have the 8.8:1 comp ratio. bmw technical data given to me during french homologation fram germann import. it can't be more reliable.

IMO they both are worth the same , i sell both the same price, all really depend on the genral condition and millage...( id ad , they are less 1 than 2s.....only 1 year of production .....late 86 to early 87 )

Ants mapped them m8 andhe seems to think theres a difference.
plus the phase ones tend to make book power when in good condition and phase 2's dont

interesting that bmw have quoted u the same tho

i have a july 87 engine on my papers it makes 8.8:1 and did 156hp on the dino.
i know have a 89 engine, same comp same pistons, ans same head ( i just opened it up this afternoon as my gaskette failed this morning  )

the only dif is the tech one have the early motronic 159 ecu and the other have the simple plated one..maybe the diff is there although i have found none on he dino ( got one at 5km and now have very interesting prices ;) )

BUT WAIT ! i maybe got hold of something .... although i doubt...
i m cat as it an germann import and so used to be Fonzi s car ( the french 325i tech1 lokie mine )
he has the exact same modele as mine ; same mounth and all in 2 door, me both have a 8.8:1 engin, but this is because we had early cat engines for germany. as his used to be germann to ...

so are your Tech1 catalised? and do they use motronic like tech2 ? or more like the early 320i ljet syteme?
this could be a diffrence, but if they are in motronic with 3 row of pins and not 2 , then the engine is 100% for sure 8.8:1 ratio.

????
