myself and nemo have bought ourselves a track car.

its a genuine alpina c1 2.3 shell complete with its original engine

as u can see form the pics, its missing an interior and bumpers.

Its had new sills, wings, bonnet, doors and rear wheelarches, so the shell is totally sound and it just needs spraying and some seats.

Current plans are to fit a phase one 2,5 engine (high comp) and tech one sport kit plus some other mods, sell the wheels, and then use it for track days.

why sell the wheels?! thats about the only thing that would make it look an alpina.

Keep it original only a few or so made for the UK, so they be worth a few pennies soon innit

its gonna be a stripped out track car.
no point in having Ԛ£500 of genuine alpinas on it when tyres will be cheaper on bbs (plus it wont matter if they get damaged)

to all intents and purposes it will no longer be an alpina, the engine will be gone and so will the wheels and prob clocks.

such a shame someone put some effort into restoring it and u are gonna trash it.
Buy a c-reg 325i and track that instead? who cares about rust on a track car? as long as it not in the struts or something

the person we bought it from was going to track it too.
he just hasnt got the time.

how is turning it into a trackday tool "trashing it" exactly ?

we found this, and we found it within our budget.
we havent got the cash to go out and buy an alpina interior, and alpina bumpers etc.

If you want to do that then make an offer to buy it, and it will be considered.

define good money?

we'd never find early e30 alpina bumpers cheap and we'd def never find an alpina interior at all - so the best we cud manage wud be sport interior and phase one sport kit - so it wud never be original

But u do silly things so why am i bothering?!
meaning ???

ideal track car i have to say, i agree you will never find the parts to restore it, that would be virtually impossible and very costly

an alpina chrome bumper spoiler went on ebay recently for the front (someone on here gave me a heads up for it, Cheers Tylerma). Finding the stuff is not hard it's out there. U can buy alpina cloth for the seats and get them trimmed up. Dealers can still get most things. U have all the hard bits like wheels, engines, plaques and clocks and the shell is sorted.

Silly things? well u know what i am going to say don't u?

So u didn't turn up at a lakeside meet in a 325 convertible u bought for 2.5k and bragged to 50 zoners about what a bargain it was and then proceeded to sell it on this very forum for over 5.5k? Now that is proper silly in my book.

Oh if u do restore it they came in black or white

firstly get your figures right.

secondly i aksed what it was worth "on this very forum" and got replies so priced it LESS than that.

thirdly what the fcuk has it got to do with you if i buy a car cheap and sell it at market value? No one else whinged like a girl about it, just you.

oh poor ickle simon, he missed out on a cheap low mileage convertible and now hes missed out on a bargain genuine alpina.
whinging bout both cars aint gonna help you - Sounds like jealousy to me (and others)

diddums. get over it.

simon appears to have a problem tho, his posts on this thread and the one where i advertised my convertible for sale seem to bear this out.
all i say is simon is far from a jealous bloke so everyone just take a step back.
his responses tell a different story.

this is a forum and i am just stating my opinion and trying to get my view across. Chaos as someone who has moderated on other forums u can see this?

U bought the convertible off a trader and traders don't at sell below market value

I am jealous because u have a car where someone has done most of the work. u would still have to spend some money on it and can just piss about with the fancy bits and enjoy it

U are right it has nothing to do with me but u set your self up for it by telling everyone on here in the first place

depends how its done.
U bought the convertible off a trader and traders don't at sell below market value
dont they ?
they do with cars that have come in as part ex - which the convertible had
I am jealous because u have a car where someone has done most of the work. u would still have to spend some money on it and can just piss about with the fancy bits and enjoy it
its not economically viable.
it will cost more to do that than the car wud be worth
U are right it has nothing to do with me but u set your self up for it by telling everyone on here in the first place
isnt that what forums are about?
same as u try an say in point one.

you accused us of "trashing the car" and making "silly" decisions/actions

thats not just having an opinion thats being accusatory and starting on ppl.

i started the thread cos weve bought an e30 that we intend to turn into a track car - silly me cos i thought what with this being an e30 board ppl might be interested.

Traders dont sell part ex's for less than they give for them or am i a silly boy? (silly word of the night)

Surely as an enthusiast u don't mind spending more money on car than it's worth? thats what enthusiasts do to me. Or are u tighter than i thought?

U have made a silly decision because i know u won't do the car up. U'll sell it on or track it

some do - carcraft in newport for example simply auction off their part ex's on a monday morning - with no reserves etc

most traders dont give full market value as a part ex anyways

i have interest in the convertible at the price its at.
its a genuine car, it has low miles and its in ace condition.
Surely as an enthusiast u don't mind spending more money on car than it's worth? thats what enthusiasts do to me. Or are u tighter than i thought?
i dont want an Alpina C1 2.3 as a road car - if i wanted an Alpina it wud need to be a 2,7.

This car was bought (following consultation and asking for advice from other ppl) as a car to use for the track.

I have it on good authority that it simply wudnt be cost effective to buy and restore it.

Yes im an enthusiast, but im also a realist too.
and i wont throw good money away, cos if i do that i lose out on future projects etc
U have made a silly decision because i know u won't do the car up. U'll sell it on or track it
you think its a "silly" decision, other ppl dont.
The pros and cons were looked at and it was decided to use this as a track car.

As i said earlier you are quite welcome to make an offer and buy and then finish the restoration yourself

i'll make a chaos offer "this car is way overpriced" no way its worth 500 nicker

Will u take Ԛ£250 for it? u have more cars than hot dinners, most folks on here keep their cars quite a while on here. u are just tight and don't want someone to reep the benefits of money u spent on a car that u cannot get back. Eg how long did that 2.7 E21 323i last 5 days? before u ponced the wheels off it and flogged it on?

Well the way i see it, you could spend thousands doing it up back to mint Alpina spec and youll probably be forced to poodle around in it and play safe because it would be silly to smash it up/treat it mean after all that, then it might be hard to sell on!

Getting it raw and ready to track is just as "enthusiast" as after all, youll be enjoying the car! :drive:

Simon have you priced up the cloth from stealers for sorts seat
i have even standard trim is expencive no way im paying over 200 notes for 1 yes one seat back then there the rest

If it was to be restored it would have to be to original spec and i have neither the time or the money or the spaceto do this.

tracking is a viable optiona and selling on the remaining alpina bits will help possibly keep other alpinas on the road look at the wider picture.

whats all the point of this slagging matches

and foryour infor nick hasnt sold teh convertable yet he stillhas it we turned up at lakeside in mine and another e30 he bought as a runaround so not to clock miles on the convertable. Not that that has anything to do with you but the dealer didnt know what he was selling hence why the convertable was cheap.
As nick said if you dont wantus to trash as you call it the car then make us anoffer and restore it yourselfif you really are that bothered by it
