can i get this straight (335i)

i am doing a m30 335i conversion on my 325i sport i have bought a 535i manual with aircon e34 all i need now is e30 m3 prop custom engine mounts and im all done? i am thinking of keeping my normal lsd or shall i put the e34 one?

i dont think the e34 one fits but i could be wrong though.

do a search dude! all covered plenty of times before

if you're lucky the aircon fan is ok so you can use that (and the sender) in front of the rad
custom or M3 prop
ideally a M3 exhaust (bigger bore than the M20 one)
washer bottle needed as the airbox gets in the way. an ix one in the battery tray is neat if your battery is in the back, i used a small vitara one on the (now redundant) AFM bracket
ideally a taller diff (3.64 or 3.46)
some uprating of the front springs due to the extra weight.

you really doing this to an original sport?

it won't helps it's value...

I'd be inclined to agree, not that I'm a stickler for preserving Sports, but it could well affect it's value.

basicly i am doing this conversion as my cambelt snapped and ripped the valves and to be honest i wanted some more topend power

If it's a face lift Sport(3.91) then no, pre-face(3.64) lift yes

E34 small diff fits, all you need to do is to change rear cover.
No idea is 535 diff small diff, though. 525tds has the e34 small one (typ 188).

I recommend you replacing 325 radiator with E28 535 one, otherwise you may have some temperature issues...

it'll work, but be short geared for the amount of grunt you have.

should be ok for a while then upgrade later when funds next allow

A sport diff will be ok with the M30.
It will just be a bit revvy at cruising speeds especialy if you have the 3.91. Probably sit at about 3500 rpm at 80 instead of 3000.
It'll be strong enough though.

I recommend you choosing as long-geared diff as possible, something like 3.15 or 3.25. M30 is torqueye engine, so it deserves long diff.

as spadge said really. around town, first gear will become fairly useless and in a quick start, you'll be out of first before you know what's happened... if you can find the grip

a 3.46ish ratio will just make it a bit more civilised, economical and better off the line (you won't need to launch in 2nd!). with the M30, you'll be hard pushed to find a hill you can't trundle up at 20mph in 5th so low gearing isn't needed, better swapped for taller gearing to allow you to use your new gob load of torque.

the only strength issues you could have is with a small case diff, i proved they don't like M30's! yours is a medium case, as are almost all LSD's you'll find, so no worries there.

careful with 5 series diffs, a lot of the larger engined ones will have the bigger 210mm type.
E30's have the small case (316 - 320) and medium (188mm) case (325 and E30 M3). in E30 circles the medium case bmw diff is often referred to as a large case as it's the biggest one that came on the E30. the 5's often have the large (210mm) case one which isn't a straight swap and will require heavy modification to the subframe etc and isn't worthwhile unless you're running a huge power turbo setup or similar.

the medium case is all you'll need. a E30 M3 3.25 will be a nice cruiser, early 325i 3.46 is ideal but rareish, 3.64 is a lot more common and unless you spend a lot of time on the motorway, perfectly ok. 3.73 and 3.91 will feel quite short geared

i personally am running leda coilovers

a stiff 40/40 kit will help things. a 60/40 kit will end up too low due to the extra weight of the M30, which drops the front about 15mm or thereabouts

I'm running an M30 with a 3.73:1 diff.

Unless I'm pulling away up a steep hill I always pull away in 2nd gear.
It was quicker down the qyuarter mile launching in 2nd also!

I'm using H&R 60/40 springs and with the battery and washer bottle in the boot and all soundproofing removed it sits very level.
