Hi all
After looking round the net and here on the forums, can anyone tell me if there is a store that stocks Bonnet/Boot badges as the white sections on mine have faded away to nothing and I'd like to replace them. Also on my rims, the center decals have also faded. Does anyone know where in the Bournemouth/Stevenage region one can pick these items up?
I suppose BMW dealerships would most likely stock them, but wouldn't they charge through the nose (there is a story circulating here in South Africa of new BMW's badges costing over R3000 to replace! (Around 250 quid!) )
Any help would be appreicated. Also is it worth getting a reset tool for the insepection readout on the dash?
Ta muchly

badges are about 11quid from dealers
all you need to reset the dash lights is a short length of wire, don`t bother with a reset tool they are waste of money

Hi Schitz, welcome.
In answer to your poll, I'd say definately chip it. If you do the throttle body mod as well, you'll be looking at over 140bhp (possibly nearer 150!). Over here, this can be done for around Ԛ£100 and half a day adapting the manifold to take the throttle body. There are several threads on the 'Zone detailing how this is done and there's an article covering it in this months Total BMW.
As for the badges I don't think they're too bad from the dealers. You could also try eBay - watch the prices don't go too high though or you'll end up wishing you had gone to the dealers. From memory, I think that the front and rear roundels are about Ԛ£10-Ԛ£15 over here.
If you're not worried about having documented service history with your car, then the service light tool is worth the money.

In Bournemouth you have got Woods BMW dealer ship, bunch of unhelpful what nots, but they do have the parts you require!
Bonnet / boot badges as said are about Ԛ£11, a set of four roundels for the BBS alloys again are Ԛ£11 for all 4.

cheers and thanks for the welcome
Overall I'm quite pleased with the power of the car. However when out on the highway I get up to around 120/130kph and I'm reluctant to push it any further. The revs are quite low (around 3000/3500) at this point. from what I can gather one should drive this car in the higher rev band to get the most from it.
I'm not really looking to become a boy racer (far too many 3 series racers over here as it is) but I would like the car to be a little more responsive from a starting position. I'm hoping that once I do the service and check the tuning it will be a little better. Not blistering fast, but a little nippier.
As far as FSH goes. It stopped going to BMW service about 100k ago. It's been done privately since then so resetting the interval would be mearly for my own benifit.
Thanks for your help. Even though there are many many many E30's around here (not surprising as they are built like the brick shit house) genuine parts/spares etc are hard to come by unless you go to BMW themselves (their head office is in my town and our ex-neighbour used to be on of their chief mechanics, oh to have him around now...)

I haven't done the chip and throttle body on my 320i yet, but the general concensus is that it does have a very positive effect on the throttle response of the M20B20 engine.schitz011 wrote:but I would like the car to be a little more responsive from a starting position Not blistering fast, but a little nippier.

Even though this is a styling thread, would you mind telling me a bit more about the chipping and throttle mod? Availablity of parts, cost etc. Any websites dealing with this issue would be welcomeessbee wrote:I haven't done the chip and throttle body on my 320i yet, but the general concensus is that it does have a very positive effect on the throttle response of the M20B20 engine.schitz011 wrote:but I would like the car to be a little more responsive from a starting position Not blistering fast, but a little nippier.

If you can't get Total BMW over there, I may be able to scan my copy and e-mail it to you. There are a lot of pictures in the article though and my PC may not be able to handle it.essbee wrote:there's an article covering it in this months Total BMW.
I'll look for the threads on the forum and post the links up for you in a bit.

Oh, BTW. Does your 320i have Jetronic injection or Motronic ignition/injection? I'm not sure if this can be done on Jetronic cars.

thanks for the help.
Not sure about the injection system on my BM. Is there any way of finding out from a visual inspection?
Cheers again for your help.
I shall have to try and track down a copy of Total BMW and read it in the newsagent (Magazines being WAY expensive over here, like most imported things. Doesn't help being at the end of the world... )

Jetronic uses a conventional distributor (under the inlet manifold, I think) and Motronic has the distributor cap mounted on the cambelt cover at the front of the 'head.schitz011 wrote:Not sure about the injection system on my BM. Is there any way of finding out from a visual inspection?
