Graham has offered zone members a discount price of £35, which i am infromed is over 20% off RRP, for this price i feel that this is well worth the money, considering the money back policy they offer (check the web site for details!!!!)I was asked to consider the CG-Lock a few weeks ago by Graham Cox, part of the CG-Lock team, after I expressed my scepticism about the effectiveness of what appears to be just another money making gadget that probably has no real use in everyday driving.
I must admit I was pleasantly surprised by the product and just how effective it really is; you really can notice the difference.
The unit is easy to install and can be fitted to most vehicle seat belts within 2 minutes flat and the benefits can be felt from the second you reach the first corner.
When I first installed it I was still a little sceptical even after reading all the reviews from different publications and websites, but after the effort and quality of service that Graham and the rest of the team had expressed I thought it at least warranted a thorough test.
First I fitted it one morning before I was due to go to work; I installed it but didn’t activate the locking mechanism, allowing the seat belt to function normally, and if I’m honest I couldn’t notice any difference to how the seat belt usually acts, nothing unexpected there then. On the return journey I activated the friction lock mechanism that holds the lap section of the belt firmly in place, whilst leaving the shoulder strap to function normally. I then give the car a good hard drive back on the quiet evening roads, to say I was impressed was a big understatement. The difference was noticeable from the first corner, so much to say my usual 2 mile journey home was extended to about 5 miles, well, it would have been rude not to let it make a good first impression.
I decided that more testing was required, so a 90 mile trip over the North Yorkshire Moors was better than going down the A19 any day of the week. I did the journey one way without activating the lock, allowing the seatbelt to behave normally, on the return journey however I activated the lock, and not once did I feel the need to try and brace myself in the seat using my legs, or try and squash my self back in the seat with my arms, the CG-Lock held my backside in the seat firmly to the point where all I needed to do was think about driving, which can only be a good thing with my skill, or rather lack of it. This is because the CG-Lock works by holding your hips (in my case rather heavy ones) in place whilst allowing the rest of body full movement, this is because during cornering your centre of gravity is your lower abdomen and backside, so holding this stable, allows the rest of your body to become more composed.
Suffice to say that I am impressed is a very large understatement, I doubt I will take mine out of the car now after trying it I just can get enough, its great, and the best bit is if you don’t want to be pinned into the seat then its infinitely adjustable for pressure so you can also use it to stop yourself sliding down in the seat on those longer motorway journeys, or just not activate it at all and forget its there.
