Forgive me if this is already being attended to...

The Gaydon Festival on Sunday, 10th August is the worlds biggest gathering of BMW's and an event not to be missed.

Have you lot considered putting on an E30 Zone stand and display area?

If you get someone to organise it and ring the club office on 01225 709009 speak to Andrew it can be sorted.

I'm pretty sure from what I have seen already that you could put on the biggest single display of cars there.

If you need any help let me know.

Nick,

Seems there has been a change of policy within the Car Club then ?

During the years which Ron Parish organised the E30 Register we were told that a separate E30Zone section was a non starter.

On a logistics side, having been involved with setting up the Gaydon display before, I struggle to think of an area which could be used. The ground is pretty much covered with existing registers and activities (show and shine/concours etc).

I know quite a few Zoners will be attending so the Clubs official response would be good to know.

Cheers,

Iain

Before IIRC, only Club registered (members) cars were allowed into Gaydon itself. The zoners who were not members had a little display of there own in the top carpark.

The reason was that if you are a club member and your car is registered with the club, their public liability insurance is covers any unfortunate accident.

Cabrio (Neil) may be able to shed more accurate light on it.

I have my ticket and show pass :D

Exactly my understanding.

Thats why I am curious to find out if there has been some fundamental change in Club policy.

I very much doubt it, the red tape and bureaucracy is quite stifling and restrictive viz a viz meets, gatherings and the like.

Hmm.. I don't know then - but I'll find out.

Our region (North East) has an 'open door' policy for all our meets and trackdays, thats why I'm on here so much!

Rattle Neils cage.. see if he can sort something out. Space is tight - but the 5forum have been given a plot, you deserve to have one as well.

If the 5forum have a plot, then the beaurocracy seems somewhat convenient to keep the zone away. Car Club boys know we can bring e30's en masse which would pale their efforts into insignificance. Santa Pod is testiment to that.

Unless the 5forum have their own public liability insurance?

most the space is for members first ,the only reason the zone doesnt have a open gate anymore is a few years back too many tickets were given out to a few too many rust buckets while choice cars and paying car club members had to park outside

Hi

The situation is that the Car Club have made space available for All BMW Forums at the National show

If you want to display your car you will need to phone the club office and PRE-BOOK your ticket...you will not be able to gate crash on the day.

You need to tell them that you are not a Car Club member but you are a member of a forum and therefore want a pass for that area....

HOWEVER...if anyone feels they have a nice car that they wish to put in the show and shine they are welcome to do so....I know non members have won awards in the past

ALSO...if anyone feels they have a car worthy of showing in the E30 Register display and can fill some of the gaps for missing cars by all means contact me and I will see what I can do....It all depends on space that is still to be allocated...I am in no position to make promises at this point...but I can ask...if I have the right info and car details etc

See for more info:

Hope that helps

The reality is that Gaydon as a venue is not big enough, not by a long way. I'm a Car Club member but I won't be at Gaydon this year because I'm somewhere else. The event held at Gaydon needs to go somewhere else - Stanford Hall is one such venue that is bigger and a lot more pleasant than Gaydon.
