think this is the right place for this question
I want to de-cat my exhaust
I have a 1992 318i cab
now i have been asking around at some exhaust places
for a non cat front section (from the manifold back)
and i keep getting the usual crap from them saying that
being as my car is fitted with a cat from the factory it must stay that way
now when i took the car for its MOT they tested it in the old fashion way
I.E non cat saying its before they were compulsary
now my question to you guys is
does anyone know if i can de cat my system without breaking any laws
or was it an option when my car was made which would then mean it does not need to be there (by law)
any help on this would be greatly appreciated
de-cat

I think the law is if the CAT is fitted on/after August 1992 it is a requirement, if it is fitted from new before this date it can be removed.
My 1990/G had one, doesn't any more!

Your right on the change over year so if ur cars fitted with a kat it should b tested as a kat and if it aint got one then should b tested as not havin a kat fitted (fit a stainless non kat sys and ur laughin)
