WOW! My door to door trip of 938 miles is over in 3 days

The weather was sooooooooooooo hot and now i can't think of anything to say...................................

The 19mm bolt which holds the bottom of the rear shock to the trailing arm came lose and popped off mid bend . And i have muched a wheel bearing on the front but apart from that my car seems fine!

Going round the track is bloody scary at first there are no run offs anywhere so not alot of room for errors, lots of bikes and porkers to look out for behind u! Some funny of camber bend are a bottom moment thought i was going into the hedge a few times!

I went for a lap with Dave in the screamer honda! which was all cool until the arse end tried to come out at 110mph and even he was scared!

Demlotcrew (now BUTTPLUGCREW) nearly missed a bend in my car and went straight on into a wall blocking the F1 part of the circut

I forgot my camera what a p*nis i know.

Loads of accident and a few E30 brake downs a local dutch blokes A reg 320 munched his engine. it had done 277,000kms tho. He was doing 9mins times round there

An english guy in a really clean 1 oldboy owner facelift 325ise with 72k got there first lap big end went A american spanked an on hire Z4 hehe

Heh I nearly did that on my very 1st lap all those years ago had to slow to a near stop to check were the track went - does look like it should go straight on there

I had to take the run off as i was on the right hand side of the track and the ring taxi was on my left coming in really fast so i thought if i were to take the bend i would have under steered right into him!

The trip was amazing!

Got there on the Saturday afternoon and chilled out a bit watching the cars and waiting for the track to open after dropping our stuff off at the hotel.
Got on the track later on in the blazing heat (all weekend!) and did my first lap, which was pretty awesome, but taking it relatively easy mainly following Andy Everett round in his car, as he had been before and knew the track.
Decided after that to leave the rest of the laps until the Sunday and headed back to the hotel to get some food and Bitburger lager! Went out in the evening ended up proping up the bar downtown until almost 6am and getting a lift home with these gals we met!

Next morning (a bit hungover) and we headed out for a lap. Me with Nick in the car with Karl (madmidscruise) in his 3.5 Touring behind, had a reasonable lap but making one mistake missing an apex and riding the kerb!

Later on took Andrew (demlotcrew) out in the car, and had a pretty good lap, almost jumping over the undulations of the circuit.

Took Simon13 out in the Civic after, and this was a mad lap. Came down this hill at 110mph round a slight left and back up a hill, with the back end of the Civic stepping out slightly causing both of us to unwillingly release a chocolate hostage in our pants. Timed this one at 9:30, including slowing down for a crash under yellow flag and slowing a couple of times to let the car cool slightly (rad fins perishing! - need new rad!) which I was pretty chuffed with. Especially since a 'regular' ringer from Dunstable in his E36 M3 Evo Coupe came over and told us about his 9:25 lap, and then walked off to the pub after I said 'I did a 9:30 in that earlier' He wasn't best pleased. I think that was my 4th lap.

Nick then had a go in the trusty Civic which was fun for me as a passenger, and we both realised how fast the new M5 Ring taxi flies up behind you!

Did another lap or two, one with Gus (psychochild) in the car, which was fun.

On the way back to the hotel, a wheel fell off Karls BMW at very low speed (thank god) which we collectively sorted out later on with a new hub from Andy Everett (top marks Andy).

We went for some food and had a few beers at the hotel out under the gazebo later on.

Next day we decided to head back via Cologne, were there are lots and lots of nice girls!! Which was quite a laugh. Brought some interested objects from there. (not what you're thinking!).

All in all, the cars lived up well, touchwood I didn't need to lift the bonnet on the Civic. to all those who said at Lakeside 'That car won't last'!! It's been caned everyday, done a hard trackday, got me to Amsterdam and back, and now done the Ring!

What a brilliant trip and I can't wait to go again!

I need decent tyres/suspension then I'll be happy!

Yeah back end often has a wiggle there (if its were I'm thinking - up out of Fuchsrohre?) Even on r-tyres that happened once in my 325i

To be honest timing doesnt mean much at the ring in tourist driving cause the traffic throws in such a variable and then there can be yellows etc as well. You really need a clean run to get anything meaningfull
Having said that, 9m25 in an e36 m3 isnt anything to be particularly proud of, they should be able to go around minute quicker than that!
I've a video of someone doing under 9min in a 130bhp pug, now thats something

No shit, Sabine came flying up behind me once through the fast section after Pflanzgarten no hands on the wheel waving for us to get out of the way LOL! Another time going up to the crest at Flugplatz checked mirrors - empty just over the crest - ring taxi up my chuff! WTF! Where did that come from

being half cut as a passenger round there was not so bad! sobering up and going with dave did my nerves in for the rest of the day!

We also went to the legendary garage "ring piece racing" lots of proper E30 M3 race cars in there with carbon fibre bonnets,doord,wings which cost like 800 euros for the doors and 600 for the wings!!

Got some cool number plate surrounds with ring on them off a dead Mk2 golf in the scrappy too

i went out for a 'spirited' high speed session today with some big roundabouts to test out some tyre pressure settings.... and i was getting some nasty fuel surge.....

did any of u guys have this prob at the ring.....note i also had about an 1/4 tank so it wasnt that low..

Man what a weekend. I got car finished and running at 5pm on the friday, we left at 3.30am sat.(cuttin it a bit fine) small leak on a bottom rad hose but all fine on the way there. Well till we got there. Me throttle cable fraied and stuck open. Luckly andy knew the way to ring racing. so after sorting me n martain a room we shot over. they had a cable off something which we bodjed on. 1 easy lap and a knocking from the rear. HALF SHAFT!!! fuck sake, back to ring racin who had 1 of an m3e30.

went n had a pizza and a few beers (boot) wit the boyz.

up early down ring racin to get shaft fixed. then we noticed center barring and the doughnut that hold the prop to the box was all shagged. but the guys at ring racin sorted it again. th whole lot for 120 squid.Bargin!!!

then a day of ring. It was the bollocks, balls out into blind bends. WICKED. Had such a great time.

we thought we'd go back to dave and the boys hotel for a pint. And what should happen?? well obvious, fuckin wheel rips bolts clean outta the hub!!! luckly i stopped just short of the barrier. unfortunatlt some STONED KROUT, who managed to stop, decided to make a quick exit and fuck off. But in doing so my wheel that was rolling down the hill rolled staight into his drivers door. TWAT!!! so i do the obvious thing(not beein able to fuck ff on 3 weel, haha) i offer him cash but no he wantedto call his mum, who in turn phoned the krout police. Good job andy was there to translate a bit for us. So every1 mucking in to help me out andy having a spare hub and a trip to ring racing by 11.30 that night it was all back on the road. Few flames to wake up the locals and a few well earned beers.

bled brakes twice
used a ltr of oil
6 tanks of petty
and a loada gaffa tape.

Yep, wot a weekend. Started a bit bad on the Friday - the 320i lost brake lights and indicators just as I left the house and was blowing fuses indicating a major short circuit. So I fitted the Momo wheel to the 730i, packed the bags and set off.

Then drove 50 miles, thought 'bollocks to it', drove back and bodged the brake lights and indicators by wiring them straight to the ignition switch wiring with inline fuses. It worked!

Did about 100 all the way to the Ring. Fcuk me it never fails to amaze me what a long bloody way it is.

Had one spin, didn't damage the car, didn't use any oil, didn't put a wheel wrong at all really. Not bad for a Ԛ£120 ebay scrapper.

Got back to Dover this morning at about 1.30 am. Gus drove from Dover to Brighton at about 120 mph (flat out), I got back to Oxford at 5 am just as the Sun was coming up. Raced a Merc 190E 2.6 on the A34 and beat him.

Got an hour's sleep, got up again at 6 ish and drove 140 miles to Lincoln.

And we got pulled at Customs in Dover.

I didn't realise that it's illegal to bring drugs and firearms into the country..........
