Besides carrying out a bigger engine transplant is there any modifications you can do to the m40 1.8i engine like converting the bottom end etc??

dbilas dynamics do individual throttle bodies for the m40 but there £1700 8O

You could tune an m40 but the cost you would spend would not be worth the gains you would get :(

Turbo, bike carbs? Both would be expensive though.

If you want to mod an M40 then you should start with a low milage one


















BTW did I mention I have a 27k mile E36 M40 engine? :D

a 316i m40 engine? it struggles to pull its own weight, an e36 probably weighs a good 150-200kg more?

I have an m40 myself so i'm not dissing for the sake of it, i just can't see the logic?
