My brother got me this for Christmas,I've not had need to use until now,it's an impact driver that you plug into the fag lighter,it is by far the BEST bit of kit i have ever had.
You may think it's not going to be very powerful only running of the fag lighter,but believe me,it had no trouble undoing subframe bolts and other exceesively tight bolts.
It is also brilliant for undoing and doing up wheel nuts,it takes seconds and theres no pissing about,straining backs or stamping on wheel braces involded.

IMO,it is a must to keep in the car for puncture or blowout moments,you can change the wheel in under five minutes from start to finish,and,it would be a great thing for the missus to use if she was out and had a puncture,its just so damn easy.

So,GO AND BUY ONE RIGHT NOW!



Before anyone asks,how much and where from,I'll phone my bro tomorrow and ask him,can't be to pricey though,and lets face it,you can't put a price on keeping the missus happy if she gets a puncture!

This was the weapon of choice for removing the power steering rack was it Rog? No leaks for you now eh matey! You will probably find that the manual rack feels better (more feedback) at speed than the PAS rack. I prefer the manual rack myself. Glad u got it sorted mate and had fun doing it by the looks of that gun!

It did make it fun too,felt all professional!

Yet to know how the rack feels at speed,only been to the shop to get fags,but it feels better allready,as I said to you on the phone earlier,still amazed at the tracking

And yup,no more leaks,well,power steering fluid leaks anyway!

If you still haven't bought one of these go and buy one,right now.
Just done the front wheel bearing on my motor today,used it to undo/do up ALL the nuts/bolts etc,its just so damn easy,took me half hour from start to finish including two fag breaks the clearing up etc etc.
A superb tool!

NO SPANNER RASH either!

TBH,not being at all sexist,it would be a great bit of kit for ladies (and weedy geezers) to change wheels with,perfect for wheel nuts,there would be no need to call out the husband or AA man to do the job!

I can vouch for how good these things are, the rear hub nuts on beetles are an absolute nightmare to remove and in the past i have resorted to grinding the nut off!!! but whacked on a cheap impact driver like the one above, cost about Ԛ£15 and it whipped them off no trouble well impressed

gavin...have you not got the obligitory bit of scaffholding that is about 5 foot long with the correct size socket welded to the end for hub nut removal....got one in the garage. though ever beetle owner had one.

I can vouch for these too - bought one recently as they were in the sale at good ol' Woolies - something like a tenner i think. Used it last weekend and it made the whole job of removing and replacing wheels so much better.

I need to put a new steering rack in (taken the old one out), any tips? I'm going to get a rack from ECP and replace the coupling and track rods as well. Bit worried about sorting out the tracking etc.

Yes i had one at about the same time as this thread started. It only lasted one job putting on IS suspension t my old m10. Useful when it worked mind

I bought the Cosmo which is unfortunately the lowest in their test but they do say that's mostly due to price which they had as 52 and I only paid 23 inc VAT and delivery so we'll see how it goes.

Who cares these little things are great - no where near as good as a proper air gun worth a few quid to help out with the odd job me things.
