I've got a slightly different idea which may interest folk

On Saturday 14th June at York Dragway it is the Practical Performance Car £999 challenge and spectators are allowed.

It will probably cost a tenner each to get in, but it will give a bit of an alternative setting to Squires and plenty going on hopefully.

Just a thought

the drag strip isn't at Elvington, it's at a place called Melbourne

You drive past Elvington air field on the way though.
