Hi all,

Can I remove completely the SI board from the instrument cluster? Why is it used for, except the service lights?
Should I short-circuit any pins on the instrument board?

thanks,
George

Hi George, Yes you can remove the SI board. It sits inside the instrument cluster, remove the cluster and remove the screws holding it together then split the two halves. The board sits in the front half of the cluster, remove 1 screw and carefully remove it.

The SI board powers the instruments and as far as I know several instruments will not work without it.

Cheers,

That's the cluster separated from the SI board

Soooooooo, can I connect any of the circled pins together, to make the instruments work?
The SI board is damaged because of blown batteries and I can't find another to replace it (it's an '84 cluster, without a coding plug). And a complete cluster is a bit expensive here...

This procedure only works for a certain one, i think the MOTO and not the VDO type.

It's very simple (credit goes to Haber)

Solder a wire link between these two pins.

You WILL loose the brake wear indicator light and the LED bar, but everything else works fine.

Thanks man. It's a motometer cluster, so I'll give it a try.
