My circuit board on Main Fuse box has developed a fault and was wondering how easy is it to change board and what tools I would need to do this job

Close to impossible, I would think. What's the problem with the original?

If only one headlight is affected, then it can only be a dry joint on the inside leg of the fuse holder, a damaged connector on the outer leg of the fuse (replaceable from the dealer), the fuse itself (try a new one, even if it looks perfect), or its nothing to do with the fusebox.
You could do what I did a while ago to drive a car home from an auction, when replacing the fuse didn't work. Join both dipped beam wires together, and replace the 7.5A fuse with a 15A one.

This character you employed is no auto electrician. The circuitry involved is hardly rocket science.
The two fuses in the box are fed by the same piece of copper print on the circuit board. A wire goes directly from the outside leg of each fuse, through the loom clipped inside the left hand wing to the plugs on the respective dipped beam headlamp units. The other wires in these plugs go to earth. There are two short pieces of wire inside the lamp housing rear caps that go to the lamps.
Why on earth wouldn't an auto electrician touch a high quality PCB with a soldering iron?

they are a pain to do,
but i`m sure i could repair yours.
i`m doing my 2nd reloom in my 325i at the moment.
had 320i b4 that had burnt out fuse box and about 20wires below it that run through bulkhead, so had to reloom the entire car.
and the 325i i got now was standard ie no c/l or e/w so i`m fitting the loom from my high spec 325i with knackered shell.

I'm just doing a similar thing to what was a very basic 88 320 Touring (becoming a 325 M50 Touring), using the looms, and lots of other goodies, including the ABS, from a 90 325SE. Good fun aint it.

might be a good idea to take some pictures of replacing the complete loom and produce a pdf so we can download, thanks for your help if you do a pdf or maybe I could produce it for the e30zone if you send me the pictures with a description of each stage, my email is paul@popupstands.com

matt do you have a wiring diagram for the loom, I did have a problem last year where 2 wires got burnt out in bulkhead I think one of the wires are the abs light (has mind does not work and I did fail the mot for this) which goes to the instrument cluster

There are wiring diagrams for most US spec BMWs on www.diakom.ru . Detail differences between these and UK models, but close enough to be usefull.
