My car has been making that scraping noise like so many E30s.
I sprayed WD40 on the fan clutch and the noise stops so must be that?

Anyone know if this is easy (looks it) and cheapest place to buy the clutch?

Cheers

If it's making a scraping noise then it's probably the belt and not the clutch.

A knackered clutch would cause overheating in traffic.

I would say that too but the belt was changed last year although I will double check tonight.

It might be too tight then. Fan clutches don't tend to make that sort of noise but I stand to be corrected.

Changing the fan clutch real easy only hard part is finding a spanner big enough 32 i think then stick it on and whack it with a hammer!! rest is straight foreward. why do you say that so many E30 make scraping noises, mine dont!!
