Bonnet vent cut, now needs tidying, any ideas?

Cut a nice hole in the bonnet at the weekend after being fed up of the heat issue I was having, the turbo was heating the bonnet up so much when it rained it would steam off when sitting in traffic, this gives other motorists the wrong idea, they start panicking and pointing!

The grinder did it's job and now I just need to tidy it up a little, any ideas how to fix the mesh to it?

As it's on show, when the bonnet is up, I'd like to tidy it but not sure how really.

Was thinking a edge cover like a boot seal would work but not found anything ideal so far.

Also any ideas on how to finish up the inner parts of the front bumper?

It's had some foam glued in and some trimming but again not really sure what to do from here on, filler it and paint it? or something else....

Once it's all done it'll get a lick of paint and I've had a two tone bonnet for almost three years now, it's about time I got the old girl a fresh look.

fozzy you hero just use some decrative stuff cut heat shrink to to the edges to make it look the factory then make suer it looks ok then paint should be fine. not sure why you need one but each to their own

for the bumper i would consider a sheet of plastic bonded on?
you can use some black plastic and cut it to shape then bond it and job done

you can sand the edges of plastic so it could be neat and stuck on nice.



as for the bonnet you will need to use metal as plastic will melt badly, drip on that nice hot turbo and create another thing that people will be concerned about, but this time for a good reason.




what about aluminium? sand cut to shape, sand edges and bond it on again?

fiberglass? you can shape it if needed and paint it?

im going to cut a big hole / vent in the bonnet over the mani area on my m30 to keep it cool

i think its a good idea! not chav if done right and i need the metal to weld a bit of the scuttle

Agreed, it's hot outside now and even hotter under the bonnet plus I like the heat haze it gives in traffic, like legal mushrooms in small doses!

good move Mark... perfect finishing touch to a turbo car in my opinion mate.. my mesh slots into the support structure of the bonnet from inside mate, dunno how yours looks from the inside.. but ive heard the something like tiger seal would be up to the job of holding up your mesh ..
