Woke up early this morning, so I decided to do my diff swap.
I got everything either unbolted or loose except for one top bolt and one front bolt. :hammer::hammer::hammer:
Fought with the swines for a couple of hours and still couldn't shift them. I've had to bolt it all back up as I need to be mobile this afternoon. Had it not been for these two, I'd have had the job done before 9!:cry::cry::cry::cry:
Now I'll have to pay the garage to do it for me.

its easier to fit a diff than get one off, the top bolts are a bugger, use a bar to lever against a spanner

Did you put the two you could get out back in and then try the two you could'nt undo ?.
If you tried it with just a jack supporting it, it puts a sideways force on it that makes it even harder to undo them.

i wouldnt be heating anything near the fuel tank....

just get a ring spanner on there.... then on the other end attach another spanner or bar of some sort and this should increase leverage....

well i wasnt suggesting he just wave a blowtorch under there. :P

m8s got a really neat gas powered soldering iron, without the tip on it that makes a lot of heat in a very small area, wud be ideal for this sort of thing

This is where big rugby playing hairy mates come in handy lol.. I had trouble with those bolts too, ring spanner on the end and sharp rap with a 6lb hammer cracked them off. Just bloody hard to get to..

Tried that!
:cheese: What I actually did was:-
Use a 17/19mm ring spanner with a bit 17mm hex bar through and a 17mm socket attached to a 200lb/ft torque wrench. This was accompanied by lots of :cursin:
After having no success with that, I thought it best to :surrender: pass the job on to someone with a 4 post lift and oxy gear. :hammer:
I think I must be getting old :violin::violin: 20 years ago, it would not have beaten me!!
