original 16" AC Schnitzer wheels? i used to have alpina's which were 225 at the back
and 205 at the front. My schnitzers have 215 at the back
and 205 at the front also what are advantages disadvantages of fitting wider tyres?

advantages i guess are they look better and there is more tyre to grip with, disadvantage is go too wide for the rim and you will have too much sidewall flexing which could be dangerous

Dissadvantage of wider tyres is that it will make your car slower, especially in the wet

thanks, so what size would be safe to have on my wheels and give me the best grip especially in the wet. As it quite easy to get the rear end out. i have a 318is and about 100kg worth of ICE in the Boot!!

Had 225's on my 16inch schnitzers and they rubbed the rear arch and rubbed from inner plastic arch when near to full lock, so would suggest 16/50-205. Get good rubber and you will not notice any difference at all. And the theory that wider wheels create more grip has been discussed on thios forum in the past and good arguments for both were given. For ease mate go for 205's!
