strictly not e30 related but pls can someone reassure me. i was driving the misses in her ka and was driving at about 50mph , came to a level crossing where the road dips.....bang! huge whack so stopped and looked expecting front lower skirt to be off and zorst, alas it wasnt, cudnt see any damage.

parked up over nite, checked underneath at sump and radiator..ok, left tray underneath and no leaks.

right driving today and steering wheel creaked, as were the brake pedal when pressed, sounded as if rubber rubbing on something on the front offside....therefore i fink its suspension. i tested steering at 30mph let go of wheel n braked and it didnt pull, same was true when i braked in straight line and let go of wheel... simply didnt vere. Went shopping and put 2x6 pack of volvic water bottles in boot and the front didnt make a sound (has that balanced it out?).

Pls, pls help, im shitein it, my missis is mad. all helpful (and not shihte urself comments0 appreciated)

Cheers

spring has possibly snapped? it could be anything to be honest. I doubt you would have hit any parts just exerted extreame force on something and it's gone

another guess is possibly a wheel arch liner has dropped down or caught it, best bet is to set the car up so you can hear the rubbing noise get out and poke around and see if anything catches etc

ill try that, if it was a liner wud that make the brake pedal squeak?, the noise is however not grinding, the steering wheel/brake pedal squeak intermittently, im totally stumped with it

Check the top of the shock isn't poking out the top of the pillar. The time I did the off-road excursion in my Clio the shocks came right up and dented the bonnet. Took a few days for them to settle back to where they should have been. The top ofthe shock is mounted in a big rubber grommit, so it could be that making a noise.
Once driven, forever smitten.
Direct injection, turboed, intercooled, 16 valves giving a whopping 48.5hp/litre!! :(
