Warning about black tech2 318i touring on ebay!!!!
Moderator: martauto
Just had a phone call from BadDave and 320touring, they went down today to see the touring in the listing below.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... :IT&ih=009
They were looking over it and discovered it has damage, resulting in a crease at the rear footwell on both sides of the transmission tunnel. They stopped looking at it at this point and phoned me to put a post up just in case anyone is wanting to go and see it. The seller said she was unaware of this.
Oh and apparantley the leather seats are actually vinyl covered.
Cheers
James.

Niel and Dave called in to say hello to me on the way back 'upp noff', fed them beer and in return they managed to unfasten a wheel bearing nut that had me reaching for the angle grinder....shame about the touring, but Neil is the expert here...E30Zone Rocks...
Youth is wasted on the young.
Jesus, one of the lads over here that really wants to get a Touring was very interested in this earlier in the week!!!
Had a nice M50 picked out to pick up on the way home too, lol
Pity, It's a pretty nice car too. It was for sale not so long ago too I think. Could be a different cat but looks very very similar. Not many 318 Tec 2 tourings about and especially with those front lights.

'Several thousand spent in the last x years'... Probably has, poor sod. Most people dont do the std check when they by a car and modify it regardless!
Shame. It looks lovely in the photo's! Ripe for a proper engine (S50 baby).

It is a bit of a trek, but better to spend £100 ish in fuel than over 1K on a £200 quids worth of shitter any dayfuzzy wrote:aberdeen/edinburgh to nottingham is indeed. i would be mightly p1ssed off.
We did have several others as options to enquire about (and we did)
Think,IIRC we looked at about 6 or 7 over the weekend, but none were worthy of the sellers expected price tag
The search continues

Emailed the seller last night about the car and said that i'd heard it had a damaged shell and it wasn't leather seats etc
Got this response back from them today
"this guy came at the weekend, i'm going to my local garage today for a professional opinion. I did not know it was there as there is no external indication of any damage. I will then advertise the price indicated by what my garage says it's worth and described as stated by my garage."

That seems fair enough really.
Thing is, a leather interior is worth about half the price of the car
Be interesting to see what the garage value it as... If there is no strutural strength problems it won't affect the price the garage would give it much as it is visually ok on the outside
It's just that it wouldn't be much value to most of us since we'd know we'd be buyng a bent E30
I'm amazed ye spotted it though, lol.
I wouldn't really think of pulling up carpets other than the boot floor carpet when inspecting a car
I'll have to employ ye next time I come over for an E30

You'd have thought sofuzzy wrote:wouldnt a bent/creased floor be noticed when a car was up on ramps at mot time?
The creases were quite noticeable when the car was parked on the guy's driveway
Should've been spotted when the new exhaust went on prior to the MOT as well
Can only blame the dodgy exhaust fitters and even dodgier MOT guys for inadvertently "missing" that bit

Was having look at the ream beam/tank/sill area and checking the corrosion on the fuel lines and noticed the crease on one side
Went round to the other side and had a look there and found a crease there as well
Lifted the carpet to have a look and they were easy to spot inside as well
Never bothered checking the door gaps,Just walked away

Standard practice for me mate
Funny thing is, there's NO sighs of damage in the boot area to indicate a rear end shunt
Mind you, we didn't check under the rear apron, but the boot floor and spare wheel well were all fine

It'll be interesting to see what damage lurks under those sideskirts(which don't fit properly for some reason)
It dosn't really look like it fell off a jack or axle stands to us when we checked it over
Hope your right
At the end of the day it was a £250 car with vinyl seat coverings roughly stapled on and a fibreglass valance.
