just renewing my shocks and spring and have found that i need new top mounts which is fine, but i also need the spring retainer aswell, will this come with new top mounts or do i need to buy them separatly? If so can anyone suggest where i can get them? i have looked on GSF and eurocarparts but they dont appear to have them. Thanks

lol, prob not the technical term. its the cap between the top mount and the spring. the top of the spring sits in it. Hope this helps

that looks like the rear shock assembly........i think he means the fronts; possible the top mount of the front strut................

I think we're talking about the front suspension here, not the rear :P, in which case it's part #9 in this pic :

Probably not that expensive from the dealer, if they are I have a spare pair. Surface rust only, still solid, £15 posted

I'm convinced they are about £5 or £10 new from BMW.. certainly no more anyway!

just checked my file, £4.81+VAT each
Bollocks to this 24v scrap!
