I bought an e30 cabby a month or so ago and it didnt have a head unit in it. Ive finally got round to having a look today and I can make sense of. some c*nt has butchered all the wires........ Is it best just to start fresh and rewire it all??? If so how easy is this to do and any tips or advice???

you can buy the lead from autoleads that connects to the accesory board behind the glovebox and terminates in an iso plug, or you can just go to the breakers and get another loom to replace the butcheredness

I can honestly say that Bluespot is the worse company I have ever had the displeasure to deal with.
I got my mate to go with a Blaupunkt amp for his car, he ordered the Blaupunkt plug and play amp and the cable for a 2003 E46, they had the wrong part listed, as they had a round pin cable for 2001 on E46 instead of the flat pin version.
He is not technical and struggled for a week and then gave up, so I said I would have it for my E91 touring.
Got the stuff off him and realised why he couldn't fit it, wrong cable.
Called bluespot and told them that the cable listed was wrong and he was very nice. Said I didn't have the receipt with me but could he swap it for the correct cable.
Said I had to buy the new one and send the wrong one in when I had the paperwork, no problem.
Ordered a new cable for another £57.
Got he receipt 2 hours later and called back to be told that returns under the 'distance selling regulations' were only in the first 7 days.
I explained that it was only 8 days and it was only incorrect because they had misold me the item, telling me it was something it clearly wasn't.
Then said he would take it back but would charge me a handling charge!!
But you have sold me the wrong product!!??
All I am asking is can you please just replace this product that you sold me incorrectly for the correct one??
No!! You have to pay a handling charge on the product you are replacing.
He then held me to ransom, telling me that 'if you don't like my company policy then I won't send you anything, I am not going to send you the cable you need'.
So I had to agree that I would send nothing back and just pay £130 for cables that should have been £60.
I have been in retail for 15 years and thought I had seen it all, but that really was the worse case of customer service I have come across.
Luckily Blaupunkt UK have agreed to swap it for the correct one, I will give it to someone else who is going to install their amp, I had to explain why I couldn't get a replacement from the supplier and they were not happy at all. In fact one of the sales managers called me at home to apologise even though she was on a day off. And then I got a call from Germany asking for more details, I said that I didn't want to discuss it farther as he may just have been having a bad day.
I gave them a second chance last Thursday and sent them a mail saying that maybe 'we' were both having a bad day, and would he be kind enough to swap the cable, no refund, just swap it for the correct one as a mate wanted to buy an amp too, which he would order from him. The reply was 'sorry, you have 7 days under the 'distance selling regulations' to return any items'
Completely toss company!!
Funny thing is I have done a write up for loads of forums and car clubs on this plug and play amp, along with over 50 detailed install pictures, I will be sure to mention the supplying dealer in detail.
So if you can get that cable anywhere else then do, if you can't make sure you test it fully straight away and be prepared to pay them for their lost time if they send you a toaster by mistake!!

To be fair the loom is pretty good quality, unfortunatley the plug that goes in the accesory socket is shite. I ended up going to the local scrappie and pinching the genuine BMW loom out of a breaker, (I think I have a spare one if you're desperate) in the end I chopped the ISO plug off of the autoleads loom and soldered it on to the BMW one heatshrunk all the joints and then wrapped the whole lot up in loom tape, I now have a stereo loom that looks nice and tidy
You can buy an ISO plug from halfords which is already to join to an existing loom, they are only about £5, that combined with a genuine loom from a scap car is your best bet IMHO.

Le Mans Classic 2006You will probably find that you have the correct end still in the accessory socket, so buy a loom from Halfords which is bare ends and use the connecter in your car.
Solder and tape it and then wrap it to keep it neat.
If you can't solder than buy a pack of crimps, just remeber to cut the wires at slightly different lengths so the crimps aren't all in one place on the loom as it will start to get a tight fit.

Undo the clips and drop the glovebox down.
You will see the accessory box.
Follow the wires from the radio to the block in the box and replace with the new one.
Total time around 4 minutes.
Total cost under £10.
Total satisfaction? Priceless.

Got a similar thing myself. I have the standard block connector, but connected to it are 3 wires. 2 reds and the brown, these are the powers and earth, and they DO power up the headunit when connected to the block.
The other wires out the block should be these:
2 purple (1 with black stripe) - these are your right rear speakers, so if you're wiring right rear speakers in, those're the ones, same for all the ones I'm meantioning.
2 grey (1 with black stripe) - front right
2 white (1 with black stripe) - front left
2 green (1 with black stripe) - rear left
dunno what the blue is or anything else, I only know that thanks to Spadge who I spoke to about it about it yesterday. Shout out to him, very good bloke!

Blue should be speed controlled volume. Should come from the green connector on the instrument cluster.
