We were not preaching we were defending drifting after someone asked a question which was drift related and you lot laid in to him for no real reason. I don't care if you like drifting or not, I just don't think when someone asks for help that you need to start abusing them and calling them a chav, it's not like he asked where to get neon's and subs from or something equally stupid.

If you don't like drifting then it's fine but you don't need to jump in with views when there not asked for, I wouldn't jump on a thread about drag related modifications calling them all fast and furious wannabes and that going sideways is for an elite skilled bunch of people and that no-one else here can do it. Don't stereotype us as chavs, it's not fair, we don't go around telling people that e30zone is full of old men who just like to polish their cars.

playing around trying to get the arse end out is great on a track. or even in the industrial estate at three in the morning when no one is on the road... but in traffic? on crowded roundabouts? dont be a cock!

personally i love trampdrift i think its a cracking idea and shit loads of fun! but whoever thought what those arabs are doing is cool.... well nuff said

Just don't come here preaching about some sideways nirvana to people who are simply not that bothered, expecting them to prey to your demi-god status.
I was on here asking for advice about, originally, the differences between 4 and 6 pot cars, and short shifters, followed by lowering advice, then advice on quicker steering racks (opinions on the Z3 rack are still welcome) and several other things, including what mods had been done to my fairly well known car, as its part of its history, its only natural that I want to know.

It wasn't until Johnno called me a drift king that anything happened, and I consistently tried to continue getting answers to my remaining questions rather than arguing (okay, so I failed on that ;)).
I'll accept that 400bhp isn't overpowered, but its at a standard used by semi - professionals, which I'm not. Nor am i wealthy enough to buy, run, or insure the car, hence something cheap and good to learn in.

i think you fellas that spend more time polishing your cars than driving them need to get off your high horses before mike ramraids your ass!
do you think any of you lot in your drift chariots are quick enough to get near my ass? :D
i think you drift lot need to come down of your high horses and not take it so personally. its not like anyone insulted your mothers honour or anything winkeye
i think its whats commonly refered to as 'banter' or 'baiting'.
personally i like a bit of sideways fun occasionally in my touring and in the cars ive had there is no easier car to do it in than a well balanced rwd e30. but i dont think id ever regard it as a serious passtime, just a bit of fun.

Drifting is always just a bit of fun, hense the whole idea of TrampDrift meaning "go sideways and have a laugh without having to spend loads".

People get defensive because things are being said/bantered about that aren't anywhere near true, joking about drifting is fair, but accusing people of ASBOing and Fast and Furiousing when we clearly are just in it for a laugh, is just retarded and annoying.

My 2nd gear burnout was far from a good example of real drifting, and it is far from the best of my ability, but I'm afraid I don't have any more footage for you guys to judge.

Enough from me, thanks.

See thats where you are getting it all wrong. To drift a 400hp skyline with all the goodies at speed on track is a damn site easier than acheiving the same effect in a clapped out 130hp 318is.

To be fair you guys can preach about how its easy, how 2nd gear car park stuff is lame, how we dont impress you but this was a thread asking for advice about what suspension to fit for a 318is.
You should be ashamed.
You dont find the drifters/draggers/cruisers/track racers looking to slag off your car polishing obsession on every thread you post on.

One last one actually -

Whats the difference in fuel tanks? Obviously mine was a 318i, tank will not have been changed for a 6 pot one, but is there a difference between the 318iS and 318 tanks? (just in case thats been swapped too), since I need a new one.

There's no need to change it - it'll just be smaller (55l vs. 63l) than that originally fitted to, say, a 325i. 318is and 318i tanks would be the same as each other.

I need a new one because it leaks over 2/3 full, and I've stripped the rear seats out and you can smell petrol. Hmmm, headache time!
But thanks, I'll get one sorted asap.

Not sure if this has been covered between all the mud slinging, but if you are engine swapping from a 4 to a 6 you will need to change the coding plug in the instrument cluster to get an acurate RPM reading

If you decide to put a bigger tank in, I believe that may effect the fuel gauge reading too??

Fuel gauge needs to be changed, the return pipe on the fuel pump blanked off, and the hose that was connected to it re routed to the stub pipe on the new tank.

Its a 4dr 318 with a 318iS engine, transplant done by a previous owner, I am NOT making it into a 6 pot car, I just needed to know what the differences between 4 and 6 pots were, and what 6 pot items the iS cars had. I'm not changing the tank for a bigger one, just one that doesn't leak.

Adam81 - Jimthejunior didn't supply the engine, this transplant was done ages ago. Besides, whats wrong with the engine?

Thanks guys.

The 318iS has similar suspension/brakes to the 325 saloon, cabs and all tourings. 318i has similar suspension/brakes to the 316i and 320i saloons, so it's not a 4 pot / 6 pot thing.

Thanks for clearing that up! Someone has stated earlier in the thread that mine has 325 brakes fitted, and iS suspension, each of which is 51mm struts.

Just out of curiosity, what do the different model tourings have fitted then? Same kit throughout the range?
