hi there tom, hmmm, yes all you have to do is ditch the current inlet fuel and inlet system. Then find some carbs (got some here r6 ones if you need them) then fabricate a manifold, piece of pi$$.

Next sort out throttle linkage and fuel feed, half an hour max for that. The jets in the carbs will be all wrong so they need to be changed, you may get away with the emulsion tubes, some webber jets fit mikuni carbs but check first, you might need to keep some of the "electronic bullshit" so that the spark plugs work, and burn all this extra air fuel mixture you have, or may be go back to a contact breaker distributer (got one of those too for a metro, it is an MG though :) )

A trip to the rolling road is next (make sure the strap it down well)

I would say gains of about 7-9bhp are possible:) , but you may lose some low end torque :(

is it worth it? no

there is a reason no car manufactures use carbs now, because the are generaly crap. they can only supply fuel correctly for a narrow rpm band, everywhere else is a compromise. they may sound good, and drink fuel like a 325i, but it won't go like one.

sorry to keep shitting on your ideas, may be you should get a motorbike :D

Alright, I making up a set up to run 40mm bike carbs on my 325, get quite alot of mixed repsonses here......
Iv been told that with mine i need to change the dizzy and run a old school on, mainly to be able to tune the advance and things i guess, either that or run mj or megasquirt. So unless you have the old style dizzy (not sure if you would or not on that engine) you would have to sort out the sparking in some sense,

I think thats right, im not sure though, theres a guy on here, E21Jason who had a whole bike carb set up ready for a M10 engine for sale.....

Anyway let me know how you get on!
Nice to see somoene after my own heart! :D
