Ive finally managed to get a set of borbets and i was wondering what size tyres most people are using? its mainly the back that i am concerned about as this will throw the speedo out if they have a lower rolling radius than standard.

the car had 14" bottletops as standard, with 195/70's on and the speedo is almost spot on. just about 1 mph over or under at 70.

from what i have seen people are running 215/40 or 215/45 or the 9x16 borbets. this will give around 100mm less than the rolling radius i currently have.

Is everyone going round with incorrect speedos, or have i missed something?

thanks
kieron

well to be honest mate no speedo is 100% accurate, its only gonna really put it out out too much if ur sticking massive rims on, my borebet a's are 16 x 7.5 j front and back and i have 205/45/16 and i dont notice they throw the speedo out minors

I had 225/45/16 on the rear borbets on my car. They look much better than with stupidly stretched tyres but will rub if the car is lowered

I'm pretty sure that the standard size on a 14" bottletop is 195/60 but don't make me go outside and check!

Me too, considering their 16's.

My wheels came with the tyres, and they've got nice bit of thread on them so I'll change them when they're barely legal lol

cheers for the pics oakey, it was you posting the pics of yours as a feeler in the for sale section which made my mind up to get some. it was just that yours were out of my price range so i got some that needed a refurb and have been doing the work myself. what polish did you use on the rim?

I agree the bigger tyres look better and mine isnt lowered yet so rubbing shouldnt be a problem. what tyres have you got on the front?

cheers

Fronts were 215/45/16 :D

The polish I used is "meguirs all metal polish" to keep them nice. But unless yours are polished bare metal then dont use that. The wheels come with diamond cut lacquered rims and painted centres as new.
