How long is a piece of string ? I assume you are talking about C2 2.7s ? maybe even the one you bought a week or so ago ?
I reckon a really nice , good spec car with history, less than 100000 miles and no major issues may pull £7000 + IF the right victim comes along.
These cars are now old and alas most have spent the last few years in the hands of financially challenged scum. Many alpina specific parts have gone MIA and all the usual old car issues like rust and bodged repairs are usually present . Most of these cars are restoration projects / corpses on stretchers and as such are worth the sum of their parts which is often no more than wheels, spoilers and steering wheel :o
Remember to make the average f4cked C2 with lots of its original parts missing into a £7000 car is going to cost more than £7000 !
Like all cars unless you enjoy working on cars and spending lots of money , buy the best you can. Most of the £3-£4000 cars are rubbish which are £1500 resto projects or breakers but the deluded sellers (and buyers) ensure this is the most active segment of the market.

So what happened to the car you bought ? :?

The car that I am proposing to buy i have found out that it has been classed as a Total Loss in a insurance claim about 10 yrs ago.

Currently on a Cat D what effect will this have on the value of it???

If this is the case, then to me the car would just simply be worth the sum total of its parts. Harsh but anyone likely to pay a premium for an Alpina car isn't going to be paying Alpina prices for a basket case.

Sorry but you should have done some homework before you went steaming around there with a deposit.

rule of thumb is to knock about a third off the value.

From the little info I could obtain is was involved in a frontal accident.

The insurance company has written the car off, someone has come along and probably bought off a salvage company then repaired it.

Tell tale clues were not 2.7 badge on front a recent new radiator, fresh paint on bonnet, wings and cross member.

I walk away in the end
