black.

Alp blue is V nice and uber rare, but given the cost implications of a full and complete colour change, I'd keep it factory, and original

As long as its a colour that was available on this model surely it wouldn't affect the value, not negatively anyway? Therefore the BLUE is the obvious choice.

Andyboy wrote:An altyernative I put to Si a while back was Cosmos black (E46 M3) - ca stunning metallic black with a bluey tinge.

As for Alpina blue, I think silver stripes would be more subtle. But stripeless sides with chrome gutter trim would look very nice.
Cosmos black was E36 era iirc, my old dear had a rather nice compact in this colour. Do you mean carbon black? Tis indeed stunning, as you say it looks slightly blue in the sun. Usually see it on E46 M3s and E60 sports.

It has to be blue. What better way to mark the love you've shown the car than to paint it that stunning blue. It becomes a part of the rich tapestry of the cars history. I can imagine some old boys in about 20 years time, like on antiques roadshow, uncovering the story and toil of the car, talking about you lovingly restoring her, finishing it with the bold and exquisite decision to paint it blue. Genius.

Black is not original if it's resprayed. Untouched and unrestored is original. Put your stamp on this car, emblason the come back of this machine, scream it from the roof tops. Paint it fecking blue FFS!

It's all about Heidelberg Hexa-Press with onboard spot UV varnishing.

This press also prints a very deep BLACK which is nice.

Anyway, I'm putting my BLACK coat on to go home before it gets too BLACK outside.

It would just be replacing something that is worn out, like any other part of the car.

It would still be original.

I wish I had 5 more votes.

I would vote 3 for Blue and 2 for Black.

But it must stay Black.

Its a bare metal documented respray, in a period factory colour - absolutely spot on

the blue is the far better colour, as you agreed Si. Go for it :D

Wow, This has been busy today.

The more I see the 'pina blue I like it, but I still feel black would be the best choice if it happened to be my decision.

From a detailing point of view, both colours will be fairly high maintenance. The blue will lend its self to a dripping wet glossy finish when prepped for a show, where as the black will give crisp stunning mirror-like reflections. I'm more than willing to help with advice and a pair of hands to get it looking it's best, if you need it.

lmao.... no... its all about our new press... komori L640(2008) 6 colour, inline coater(waterbased or uv varnish), can run u.v or conventional inks(due to special rollers) it has u.v and i.r drying.. with spraypowder. extended delivery, runs alcohol free, fully auto plate changing, auto wash up, pqc, amr, pdc and a max running speed of 18,000sph( achievable with continuous feed and delivery) i could go on but its not my thread! sorry fulltime.

i've only read to page 4 but i'd like to get some things straight

The car has had 10 previous keepers

The milege is 119k

The shell is straight and isn't rusted out of it's brains

i have every MOT, service book with "built by mark adkin" Alpina C2 2.7 for the model all the numbers are matching engine chassis etc on it, plus a large history file. I've also got copys of every log book change.

Base car was a 325i 2door not even an SE!

I can tell from the history that it swapped hands early on a bit company car for a while then bought. It had 2 owners in the 90's who both kept for around 5 years. Then in 2000 the car started changing hands quickly. i know it sat outside unused for 2 years as i've spoken to 2 previous owners. WLN rescued it off ebay then i came into the equation

I am mad but please tell me it isn't a good starting point. The 2 owner 80,000 mile mint cars just aren't out there, so i'm building one up

i've just read it all, massive thanks for the input i'm surprised it hasn't gone into argument mode.

Reading it has made it even worse and i just spoke to Barry and said just toss a coin and see, Damo your on the money!

Right now i'm totally undecided. Theres a strong hankering for original and black. Then theres a massive ball bags to it and blue. This has defo made it alot worse. Strong case for and against

We could say the peoples vote counts and at the mo it's blue winning by 10!

Seven pages in two days - Simon, the Zone loves your car!! :P

Alpina Blue is the Holy Grail - uber rare, and backed up by a full photographic rebuild. You can't go wrong. 8)

Does anyone know if Alpina leather was available for the C2? You HAVE to source a set if it was.... and whilst the car's in bits you might as well add the central "air-vent" digital instruments, and all the other fruit that a "top of the range" car would've had back in the day.

And whilst you're at it, try and source a glass sunroof - there was one on s14.net for $85.00 recently. That really would finish what I'm confident will be a beautiful car....

Anyway, I vote blue, with gold stripes...... :D
