Looking to sell my e34 530 to get to get something a little easier on my young wallet (a e30 316 ), but I'm not really sure what to ask for it, hopefully you guys will!

It's an E34 530 with the M60 V8 hooked upto the automatic box, has 164300ish miles on it, has all the toys it should have (ac, sunroof, leather, obc, etc), brand new battery, MOT until Oct/Nov

Bad points are, bit of a bent on the bonnet, steering wheels is showing it age, no service papers, no tax and according to the OBC, it needs new brake pads (do you think it is worth doing them myself?)

I got it for a bloody good price with is a part of the reason I don't know what to ask for it.

Here's a few pictures (I'll be taking better photos for the for sale ads as soon as I beat my Tonsillitis)

So ladies and gentlemen, how much do you think is a fair price?

Not much I'm afraid. For comparison, I recently got offered a mint (and I mean mint) 530i Touring for £1400 with all the toys, fsh and only 80K on the clock. E34 V8's in general are unloved but the 530i in particular is the one people tend to avoid - 540i running costs with 525i performance.

Nice looking car though. The E34 has aged really well 8)

What would you say would be a good ball park figure then?

Like I've said, I got it for a nice price and should turn a profit, but I want to make the most as possible (every little helps) and all that lark.

I do love e34s, and I love the M60. If I could, I would keep it, but a 316 e30 will work out nearly 3 times cheaper on the insurance so I've got to bite the bullet and realize I'm too young for such a car.

Will be good experience shifting it though - I've wanted to get into this buying and selling cars for a profit lark for a while now, and I think this is a great way to start!

That's a bit lower than I was expecting.

I was thinking it would pull in at least a grand?

Well, yes.

£750 looks like it isn't going to buy me much in the e30 world, and I'm certainly not going to be paying out of my own pocket for what I consider to be a downgrade.

£750 will get you an average condition 325 but dont expect to much for that.

It a lot more car than an E30 but the market for them is small. In the land of petrol costing more than £1 per litre, they're not easy to shift. Those who want a V8 go for the 540i - running costs are identical. The only benefit of the 530i is its less prone to head gaskets.

I'd say between £1000 and £1500. I got £1000 easily for my 530 and that was the six pot model (even more under powered) on a J-Plate and it wasn't anywhere near as tidy as yours.

Honestly speaking, Lack of history will kill any chance on this. If you can get a grand I reckon you'll be in the right ball park.

Where was that - I'll have it !

Your probably looking at about a grand for your 530 - looks nice - quite tempted myself - just need some spare cash !
Previously owned loads of old E30s, E34s, a few E36s, E32s, E39s and an E38.

Currently in a diesel Audi - miss me old E30's....

I think you'll do very well to get £750 for it just now.

People just aren't buying these things at the moment.

A '93 E34 540i auto with 136k on the clock and T&T till September got under £300 very recently and
a '94 540i Auto couldn't raise £600 a couple of months ago.

If you get offered £750 - take it as things are only going to get worse. Have you seen how cheap E39 V8s are becoming?

Id also say about £750 .
This is my mates 530 v8 and he wants about £1800 for it , Its absolutly mint leather etc inside , Manual , 18" wheels and all documented and old mots , He was on about taking less for it , He put it on ebay and i won it for £1125 but he wouldnt sell !! I enquired about them and the word of a 5 series owner "stay away from it , There the aids cars , Once you get it you will never get rid of it " , Agreed there a ;ot of car for the money but not as desirable as the 540 .

I'd thought my car would be comparable to this one and it didn't do too badly:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... T.m240.lVI

Going for what you guys are saying, I'll set the starting price on ebay to £750 and a BIN of about £1,100 and hope for the best (unless you guys think it's worth advertising privately for a bit?)

Thanks for the comments so far guys, you lot have been a real help.

I bought my K Reg 530 V8 for £750 - had it for about a year, did lots of business miles (so got my money back) and sold it on for £960 winkeye

Image

It wasn't exactly mint but was nice and I didn't spend to much money on it, and it had 176k on the clock 8O - just sold it with loads of description and plenty of pictures

I remember a cheeky tw&t undertaking me at a roundabout leading onto the motorway in a 325 E30 Touring - he soon found out that the M60 V8 had the edge

I'd buy another one

Nah, sailed through a MOT with no advisories and is pretty much minted underneath, always helps to buy from someone who garaged it everynight.

Did i say it was bought from up here? :?

A mate of mine has a Scotch 1993 325i Coupe - it's just been written off for body rot, and when I say it's rusty, it's absolutely f*ck*d out of its mind. So rotten that the fuel tank straps have pulled out.........
That 1994 730i I bought from Neil was just the same, not rotten but very heavily rusted underneath. If there's an 'S' in the last two letters of the plate, it's probably a teabag.

I understand the point about fuel consumption (we once managed to creep into Single figures during a quick Jornt around town 8)) but the V8 did get an extra 26hp and not to mention that glorious V8 harmony after 3,500 RPM or so.

Not bashing the 525, I just don't think the 530 is as bad as some has claimed it is (then again I'm not expert when it comes to Bimmers)

No idea Pete, this one has had a lot of cash thrown at it over the years, it seems to have wanted for nothing, it was some old chap i bought it off, he claimed it was garaged every night etc.

Only picky part of the bodywork would be front wing, slight bubble appearing on the arch, underneath is minted.

E34's were built to last
