Its 1 of 399 and a very cool car.
If a low miler Sport can go for 15k or an M3 for 20k plus, then i dont think that £90k is an unfair price for a very rare car like this M1.

Get real boys. £90k is a lot of proper money we are talking about here. The same car could be had for around £40k all day long. Just because there were 400 made doesn't mean this is the only one left in existance.

I agree, although Countachs are going up in value very fast at the moment, especially a good LP400.
Boxers and more especially Testarossas are at rock bottom right now.
I bet the BMW wouldn't cost as much to maintain as the Italians but £90k does seem a little steep, I've seen them advertised recently for around £65k.

I guess if you can afford 65k on a garage queen, you can spare 90k. It's in the realms of silly money. The sort of enthusiasts who can afford it wont quibble about the price.
Ball breakingly beautiful car. It's the car that started an era. You're not buying a track screamer, you buying a classic, a very cool classic with a lot of kudos. That car oozes class. You could rock up to some very swanky affairs in that and it would turn everyones heads. More so than any porker.

Boxers are up to 70-80k now - the market has woken up. Somje early 365 cars are being advertised for 100 grand and not before time. The Countach is cheap because it's not a very good car. Great engine and arresting looks but as transport it's useless.
I like the M1 but not enough to pay 90k.....but I don't actually have 90k so it's kind of irrelevant. When new, the M1 had one advantage over the Italian stuff and that was reliability. No, they wouldn't run 10'000 between services but the basic car was okay. The engine wasn't the M6 unit. It had a double row timing chain and Kugelfischer injection. Given 5000 mile oil changes and reasonable care, they'd run 100'000 between rebuilds (and often did) and a lot were used by rich Germans as everyday cars. Baur contruction meant reasonable body/chassis build and the interior was all parts bin stuff, i.e durable.
The really rare M1 is the KHG version - KHG were an outfit that bought all the remaining parts after BMW stopped production and built a handful of cars. BMW were glad to see the back of the M1 - for them it was an utter disaster. Designed for a race series that evaporated before the first production cars were built and an agreement with Lamborghini to build the cars just as they went bust (again).
Given that an M6 Convertible is in the region of 70-80 grand and looks like something a sporting 'personality' would drive, 80 grand for a really nice M1 isn't out of order. BMW are not making any more......I'll have a black one please.
