I think my best time was 13.8 @ Santa Pod. [excuse] Neither the car or driver are lightweights though. [/excuse]Jhonno wrote:Isnt Ian currently the quickest timed e30 on the 'Zone?
I have done a GPS verified 157mph though

In the dry, it's probably around 5.5 secs, but never measured it accurately. It was timed at Bruntingthorpe (on wet concrete) at 5.8 secs.

Apart from the mods required to get it to fit. Oh, and it's been chipped, but only to the point that gets it pretty close to the factory power spec.bss325i wrote:Yours is standard engine wise iirc?

Exactly. Stripped out, and a driver with less of a liking for pies, would see a big improvementd6dph wrote:All in the luxury of a fully specced car, Audio and leather and A/C If my memory serves me right.

I just don't think E30's are particularly suited to fast 1/4 mile times.
Anything in general road car spec or road legal seems to strruggle much below the 14's, traction seems non-existant.
SBC with the rear end tubbed with some fat mickey thompson drag radials would do the business, or a standard iS, now that would tear a new arsehole for any challengers.

but as you do believe in rolling roads and power figures wouldnt a timed strip run be the next logical step to prove its awesome performance?e30bmlover wrote:i dont know what the 1/4 mile is on mine or the 0 - 60 and never will find out as i dont believe in drag strips.

lmao...... thats different...... sort of... ok, ok the rolling road was a must... as for the T.I... he lernt his lesson, newer isnt always better. i have an emotional connection with my car... i feel her asking for more but then the limiter cuts in, i dont thrash my car everywhere but when i need power its there. its like the other day on the a47, in fith gear @ 90... i floor it and shes off... its quite funny watching the speedo.... the way it dosent relent.
